Today we’d like to introduce you to Khanh Nguyen.
Hi Khanh, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a board-certified internist. I have been practicing medicine for over 20 years, the last 13 years in Austin, Texas. I currently run a concierge practice in Functional/ Regenerative /Anti-Aging Medicine and Regenerative Aesthetics.
My interest in medicine started at a very young age. I was inspired by my father, who was a physician as well. I came to this country in 1982 as a refugee after risking my life on a raft for seven days on the ocean without food and very little water. My goal was to seek freedom and the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a doctor.
I worked hard in high school and got a scholarship to attend USC, earning my BS degree in Biology. I got accepted to Rush Medical College in Chicago, where I received my MD degree. I stay there for my Internal Medicine training and my Critical Care Medicine fellowship.
Due to my ongoing interest in learning new things, I discovered Functional and Regenerative Medicine. I became highly interested in the new approach to medicine: going after the root cause of diseases instead of just taking the “bandaid” approach to control symptoms. I fully appreciated the “the whole person approach,” focusing on nutrition, sleep, stress management, and exercise as the foundation of health. I learned to consider the individual’s genetics and the powerful influence of epigenetics. I received additional training in Hormone Optimization therapy, Peptide Therapy, and Longevity protocol as all the tools to help my patients to look and feel their best. I also focused on Sexual health and brain health.
Aesthetic medicine is another passion of mine. Using our body’s ability to repair, heal, and regenerate, I offer safe, effective, and natural options to regrow hair, rejuvenate the skin, and enhance sexual function. I genuinely believe in the “whole person approach” and help my patients be optimized Physically, Mentally, and Sexually.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been an enriching journey. I think it is a fascinating time in medicine where we now have so many tools/options to offer to our patients to be in their best condition. At the same time, anything new and still unconventional will take a long time to be fully accepted as the new “Gold Standard” in medicine. My goal is to continue to keep learning and apply all the new knowledge in order to best serve my patients.
