Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim F. Anthony
Hi Kim F. , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in California, surrounded by love, faith, and a profound sense of purpose. My mother, a dedicated teacher, and my father, a probation officer, lived out their values through service to others. My father devoted his free time to prison ministry, feeding the homeless, and supporting underserved communities, while my mother often joined him in prayer and community outreach. Helping others wasn’t just something my parents did—it was a way of life in our home. Looking back, I see how much that environment shaped me, embedding compassion and service into the fabric of who I am.
When it came time for college, psychology felt like a natural choice. I wasn’t entirely sure where it would lead, but I knew I wanted to help people. After graduating, I became a social worker and eventually a child protective investigator, working directly with children and families in crisis. That experience deepened my understanding of the resilience of the human spirit and the complex challenges so many people face. It also inspired me to pursue a master’s degree, which led to a role in higher education as a professor and counselor, teaching courses in psychology, student development, and career planning.
For years, I found fulfillment in helping others through both education and social services. But it wasn’t until I became a single mother that my life’s true mission revealed itself. After my divorce, I faced the same struggles so many single parents encounter—juggling responsibilities, navigating financial uncertainty, and searching for resources that were often inaccessible or unknown. I saw how these gaps created unnecessary hardships for single-parent families, and I felt a deep calling to bridge that divide.
When the world changed in March 2020, the uncertainty was palpable. As a single mom of two teenage children, I felt the weight of fear and responsibility, but I leaned into my faith and found strength in helping others. That period of reflection and action brought clarity: I wanted to create a space where single parents could access practical resources, encouragement, and support—things I had once searched for myself.
That vision became Single Moms Society, a virtual hub of resources tailored specifically to the needs of single parents. We started with career tools—resume builders, interview prep, and job assistance—and quickly expanded to include financial literacy, education guidance, transportation support, and emergency aid. Today, as a fiscally sponsored project under the Christian Ministry Alliance, we are able to provide these services on a broader scale, connecting with single parents across the nation and empowering them to thrive.
My journey has grown to include a YouTube channel, The Single Parent Review offering advice, encouragement, and expert insights for single parents and service providers. I’ve also authored The Single Parent’s Guide to Everything, a resource designed to help parents navigate the complexities of single parenting with confidence and clarity. These efforts are not just about providing tools—they are about building a community of resilience and hope.
As we step into this new season, we’re preparing to expand our reach even further with in-person events and new programs. From financial literacy workshops to emergency support, our goal remains the same: to meet single parents where they are and walk alongside them as they build brighter futures for their families.
Reflecting on this journey, I am filled with gratitude. It’s not always easy, but every challenge, every step forward, and every connection made has reaffirmed my belief in God and the power of compassion and community. My hope is that through this work, single parents everywhere can see their own strength, find the support they need, and know that they are never alone. Together, we can turn life’s most daunting challenges into opportunities for transformation and growth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I can share the road has definitely had its share of bumps along the way., but the challenges I encountered have been transformative. As a single mom navigating life after divorce, I often struggled to balance the financial and emotional demands of parenting with building a stable future for my family. There were moments of uncertainty, especially during the pandemic, when resources were scarce, and the weight of providing for my children was heavy.
One of the hardest realizations was how limited and inaccessible support for single parents often is. Searching for resources that either didn’t exist or weren’t within reach was a frustrating and isolating experience. However, those struggles became the driving force behind my mission. They opened my eyes to the needs of single parents and inspired me to create solutions that could fill those gaps. While the journey hasn’t been easy, every challenge has fueled my purpose and strengthened my resolve to help others
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I lead two interconnected ventures that reflect my dedication to empowering single parents and underserved communities: Single Moms Society and The Care Collective Firm.
Single Moms Society is a nonprofit organization focused on providing single parents with the tools, resources, and support they need to overcome challenges and build thriving lives. As a fiscally sponsored project under the Christian Ministry Alliance, we address critical areas like career development, financial literacy, transportation assistance, and emergency aid. Through our virtual resource hub and upcoming in-person events, we strive to bridge gaps in accessibility while fostering a compassionate, judgment-free community. What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to meeting single parents where they are, offering practical and actionable support that truly makes a difference.
The Care Collective Firm builds on this mission by offering educational and business consulting services, developing educational products and books, and providing media and advertising solutions. One of its key initiatives is The Single Parent Review, a YouTube platform designed to offer practical advice, expert insights, and inspiration for single parents and service providers. We also develop tools and resources, such as my book, The Single Parent’s Guide to Everything, to equip individuals and organizations with the strategies and knowledge they need to succeed.
While Single Moms Society focuses on direct community support, The Care Collective Firm provides the consulting and educational services that extend the mission further. Both are rooted in my core values of compassion, resilience, and empowerment, and together, they aim to create meaningful, lasting change for individuals, families, and communities.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I’d like to leave your readers with this: challenges don’t define us—they shape us. Whether you’re a single parent balancing life or someone pursuing a new goal, know that resilience and support can carry you forward.
Through Single Moms Society and The Care Collective Firm, I’ve seen how connection and resources can transform lives. My mission is to ensure no one feels alone in their journey. Small acts of kindness—sharing a resource, offering support, or giving time—can create lasting impact. Together, we can build stronger, more compassionate communities. Thank you for allowing me to share my story.
