Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Perry
Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Sunrise Petal Company is proud to celebrate its roots, built on founder Lindsey Perry’s decade-long experience and classical training from the Benz School of Floral Design at Texas A&M University. This foundation shapes the team’s artistry and expertise today.
My passion for floral design first blossomed in the classroom, where I taught high school agricultural science and floral design. I’ve always been artsy and creative, and I fell in love with the opportunity to teach a meaningful and therapeutic course. Over eight years, I taught basic and advanced floral design, trained competitive teams, and guided hundreds of students toward earning floral certifications. My dedication to education remains steadfast, as I continue to support local public school career and technical education programs, and FFA chapters.
While teaching, I found myself increasingly sought after for wedding floral arrangements, allowing me to practice and refine my craft outside the classroom. As my skills evolved, I saw the potential to turn a hobby into a business. For years, I dreamed of being a florist—creating beauty, working with wonderful people, and building a life for my family that prioritized togetherness. That little dream became a reality I couldn’t pass up, and I’m so thankful for every opportunity our clients give us.
Now fully dedicated to my business, I continue to grow as a designer and entrepreneur, grateful for the lessons learned along the way.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a business has its challenges, and we’ve faced our share of uncertainty with recent changes in the economy. Rising costs for flowers and materials, like many other expenses, have pushed us to adapt and find innovative ways to deliver luxury services while maintaining exceptional value for clients who are also mindful of their investments.
In 2024, I embraced another new role—motherhood. Balancing the demands of running a successful business while being my daughter’s primary daily caregiver has been a rewarding yet bumpy road. Having my daughter has been the best thing I could have dreamed of, but motherhood as an entrepreneur is full of challenges. Learning to ask for help, rely on seasoned mother entrepreneurs for advice, and lean on family support has been invaluable. These experiences continue to shape our journey, reminding us of the importance of resilience, support, and connection.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Sunrise Petal Company?

At The Sunrise Petal Company, we believe in crafting floral designs that leave a lasting impression—cherished in memories, admired in photos, and celebrated at every anniversary.
THE MEANING BEHIND THE NAME
Our name, The Sunrise Petal Company, reflects who we are and the values we cherish. Inspired by the sunrise, we are reminded that life’s most beautiful moments often follow challenges. There are storms, clouds and imperfect conditions and so when we see a bright beaming sunrise in all of its glory, we are elated and reminded of this.
We appreciate the intimate, quiet and early hours of the morning and the purposeful effort to wake early. So much of the work that we do are for weddings, the sunrise is a reminder that there is something to look forward to and to work towards in love. We see these celebrations as beautiful moments to celebrate now as we look forward to the future.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I rely heavily on my Google Calendar for both business and personal scheduling—it’s my lifeline for staying organized. Instagram is another invaluable tool; it allows us to showcase our work, connect with peers, and engage with couples. You can check out our portfolio on Instagram.
Pinterest has also become an essential part of our workflow—something I never imagined I’d use so much for my job. We use it to share our work with potential clients and collaborate on design ideas. Clients often share their Pinterest boards with us to communicate their vision, and we use it to create visual representations and preliminary design boards. This helps clients visualize and align with our design concepts during the early stages of the process.
When it comes to personal development, I found Atomic Habits by James Clear truly lived up to the hype. As a business owner, I’ve learned that discipline in my personal life directly impacts my professional success. Another book I highly recommend is The Magic of Thinking Big by David J. Schwartz—it’s been incredibly inspiring.
Event floristry is physically demanding, so staying in shape is crucial. I love getting out for a walk at Town Lake or exploring Austin’s trails. When that’s not an option, my Peloton helps me stay active. As a new mom, my fitness goals this year are less about swimsuit season and more about keeping up with the demands of the busy spring wedding season.
