Hidden Gems: Meet Nicole Laird, PT, DPT of Hays County Physical Therapy and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Laird, PT, DPT.

Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hays County Physical Therapy and Wellness was started to support women on their journey through all of life’s changes to feel strong, confident, and in control of their bodies. I had my oldest son in 2016 and realized that the “ease back into it” mentality of movement and fitness was not going to cut it. As a physical therapist by trade, I realized that there was a gap. A need to serve and support women in their most vulnerable stages of life. We’ve been told for years to just deal with certain things like bladder issues, pain, and pelvic issues without any other guidance. We’ve been told that this is the best that we get as women and I refuse to allow that to be the story. Women deserve better. We deserve to thrive in all stages of life, to feel strong, confident, and in control of our bodies, to feel 40 when we’re 60. That’s what Hays County Physical Therapy and Wellness does. We are the vitality and longevity clinic for women. It is our mission to support women in all stages of life from pre conception to post menopause so they feel vibrant, strong, and confident.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Over the past several years there have definitely been a lot of twists and turns as with any business. I decided to jump full time into my practice in January of 2020, and we had no idea what that year would bring. I managed to thrive in 2020 and continue to build and grow my practice through that year and beyond. As I moved into a new space at the end of 2021, I also got pregnant with my second sone. As the primary physical therapist and provider as well as the clinic owner and chief everything officer, figuring out how to take time to be with my growing family, honor my personal postpartum recovery, and navigate some personal challenges in 2022 was an interesting growth opportunity. My team supported me and helped Hays County Physical Therapy and Wellness continue to thrive through this phase of life. Over the past 2 years we’ve managed to grow into our physical therapy side of the practice as well as expand our wellness service offerings to better serve our clients. With foundational strength training classes for women, and supportive vitality and longevity services, we’re helping women feel their best as they transition through all stages of life.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hays County Physical Therapy and Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am constantly reading business and personal development books and utilizing health and fitness apps to keep my mind and body operating at peak potential. Currently I’m listening to “Shark Theory” with Baylor Barbee as a podcast and just finished the audio book “Hug Your Customers” by Jack Mitchell. My Panda Planner and the Big Ass Calendar are my top planning tools to help me achieve my personal, professional, and family goals each year. These also support my gratitude and journal practice to keep me grateful for all the opportunities in my life.
