Hidden Gems: Meet Ron Grobman of Tactical Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Grobman.

Hi Ron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was originally born in Israel. At age nine, I moved to Austin, TX due to my father’s work relocation. At age 16, I became the youngest certified Krav Maga instructor in the US. After finishing high school here is Austin, I moved back to Israel to complete my military service. I was able to pass special forces selection there and served as a sniper in a special forces recon unit. During my service, I attained the rank of 1st Sargent.

Shortly after my service, I moved to NYC to teach Krav Maga for a company that was based there. After a few months, the company asked me to relocate to Michigan to run a Krav Maga gym there. I did so for a few years and then decided to move back to Austin and open my own business here; Tactical Fitness! In January, I will be completing five years in business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Running and building a business is never a smooth road. We had our ups and downs along the way. As we are a one man show when we started. The main challenge was to find clientele at first. Little by little word spread and finally, we ran into the issue of having too much demand and not enough time to provide services to everyone.

As you know, we’re big fans of Tactical Fitness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Tactical Fitness specializes in Krav Maga, firearm training, combat preparedness training and more. The company has gown rapidly since its establishment in 2016 and is looking forward to this next step in their expansion.

Founder Ron Grobman’s impressive resume speaks for itself. At the age of 16, Ron became the youngest certified Krav Maga instructor in the US. He has since attained the rank of 1st sergeant in the Israeli military, served in the IDF Special Forces reconnaissance battalion as a sniper, been certified through International Krav Maga under Gabi Noah, and gained Krav Maga Trainer certification from the Wingate Institute in Israel.

Tactical Fitness delivers a wide variety of services from one-to-one training to large groups, corporate team building and security consulting as well as full firearms training.

Ron Grobman said “Our ambition is simple. To become the leading provider of self-defense training in the country. We have seen a huge increase in demand for our services and the partnership with Really Epic Dog Group will allow us to accommodate for that and offer even greater capacity and choice in superior training. We know the success that Really Epic Dog Group businesses have had, and that was a key driver to partner with them. We are experts in our field, and they are experts in theirs, together that dedication to excellence will be a powerful driver for growth. We are excited to see what the future holds.”

With over 15 years of operational experience, latest addition to the Tactical fitness team Bernardo is an expert in the field of Counter Terrorism and security best practices. His expertise covers high-risk police tactics, special operations (SOF), close protection (CP), hand-to-hand combat and close-quarters battle (CQB).

Wayne Scholes, Chairman of Really Epic Dog Group said, “After experiencing first-hand the quality of training Tactical Fitness has to offer, and the depth of knowledge the instructors have, I knew it would be the perfect partnership. We work exclusively with businesses whose values align with our own. Every business or individual, for that matter, can benefit from what Tactical Fitness has to offer. Ron is the leader in this field, and we are excited to help bring Tactical Fitness to a wider, more diverse audience.”

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The best part of Austin is the people! We have an extremely diverse population here. Over the last five years, I’ve met people from all walks of life that have enriched me.

The municipal government is awful. Unfortunately, they are the biggest problem for Austinites, from causing housing prices to go up to defunding the police and having crime skyrocket.
