Hidden Gems: Meet Sapora Williams of Community Youth Village/ DBA Kids Community Village

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sapora Williams.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
About 4yrs ago I had a vision of a space where children from all over the city could come for child development and education. A space where their uniqueness was accepted and they were encouraged to be the best versions of themselves all while being supported, loved and cared for. This space is called Community Youth Village my 501c3 nonprofit organization.

We opened our first childcare center Kids Community Village. This childcare center started as a Home daycare. We had so many families needing care we were forced to expand to a commercial facility. Now, 3yrs later we’ve help 100s of families in our local community receive quality care at a reasonable price.

We are still building Community Youth Village. Once we complete the project, our goal is to help thousands even millions of children within the USA.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I struggled to open the Home daycare because I felt a sense of fear that I would fail. If it wasn’t for my husband and my trust in God we wouldn’t be where we are today. I ran a home daycare while working a full-time job all while pregnant. Once the Home daycare began to boost enrollment, I was forced to make the biggest decision of my life. I could stop running business out my home and continue working a 9 to 5 job or I could quit my 9 to 5 to pursue my business full-time. Choosing to pursue my business full-time changed my life tremendously. After, placing my focus on the Home Daycare we eventually expanded to a Commercial Childcare Center because we had so many kids enrolled.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Community Youth Village is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and our mission is to help mold and shape our youth physically, mentally and emotionally into the best version of themselves; by creating a loving, caring environment making sure community is at the forefront of service.

What sets us apart from others is Community Youth Village is a one stop shop for Youth ages 6week to 16yrs old. Our nonprofit has our first daycare under our umbrella called Kids Community Village.

We are currently taking donations for our building fund. We’re looking to build this safe space for all youth. Most childcare centers only take certain ages and afterschool programs stop taken youth at 12yrs old, which inconvenience parents tremendously. It takes a village to raise a child, were the village you’ve been looking for.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We love the support of our parents within the community.
