Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarita Mehta.
Hi Sarita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sarita’s Story – A Legacy of Education and Service
Sarita Mehta comes from a family where education is not just a profession — it is a mission.
Her grandparents believed that every child, no matter how poor or disadvantaged, deserved access to learning. With courage and determination, they opened an elementary school for underprivileged children, creating opportunities for families who had none. They did not see education as a business — they saw it as a responsibility to society.
Her parents continued that vision. They expanded the dream by opening a college, ensuring that students from low-income backgrounds could continue their education beyond primary school. For them, education was a pathway to dignity, independence, and a better future.
Growing up in this environment shaped Sarita deeply. She saw firsthand the power of compassion combined with action. She witnessed how one classroom could change an entire family’s future. Service was not something she was taught in words — it was something she saw lived every day.
Today, Sarita carries that legacy forward. In her own work in education, she focuses not just on enrollment or administration, but on building trust with families and creating meaningful opportunities for children. She understands that choosing a school is a life-changing decision, and she approaches every parent with empathy and respect.
For Sarita, education is more than a job. It is her heritage. It is her family’s gift to the world — and now, it is her contribution too.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
COVID tested their strength — but it did not break their purpose.
For Sarita, that period reinforced something powerful: education is not just about buildings and classrooms. It is about resilience, community, and never giving up on children who need support the most.
Today, she carries forward that same determination. She understands that challenges will come, but service must continue. Her family’s legacy has survived difficulties before — and it will continue to grow stronger.
As you know, we’re big fans of Star Montessori School. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
About My Montessori School – A Personal Mission
I opened my Montessori school in Cedar Park because of a personal experience that changed everything for me. After seeing the lack of care, attention, and quality service my son received in a daycare, I knew I wanted to create something very different — a place where children are truly valued, nurtured, and supported.
Our school specializes in Montessori education, focusing on fostering independence, curiosity, and a love of learning in each child. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to individualized care. Every child is unique, and we tailor our approach to meet their needs, ensuring they feel safe, confident, and engaged.
We are most proud of the trust we build with families. Parents know that when they bring their child to our school, they are not just enrolling them in a program — they are joining a community that genuinely cares. Our teachers are passionate, trained in Montessori methods, and dedicated to guiding children in their growth and development.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to provide high-quality early education with heart and integrity, so that every child can thrive and every parent can feel confident their child is in good hands.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
y View on Risk Taking
I believe that risk is an essential part of growth — both personally and professionally. Taking calculated risks allows you to create meaningful change, even when the path is uncertain. For me, risk is not about being reckless; it’s about trusting your vision, preparing carefully, and being willing to step outside your comfort zone.
A major risk I took was opening my own Montessori school in Cedar Park. After experiencing poor care for my son in a daycare, I could have simply accepted the status quo or looked for another existing school. But I chose to take a leap — leaving the security of what was familiar to create a school that reflects the quality and care I believe every child deserves.
Starting a school from scratch involved financial risk, personal sacrifice, and the responsibility of ensuring every child and family would feel supported. It was scary at times, but the belief in my mission — inspired by my family’s legacy in education — kept me moving forward. That risk has allowed me to build a school that truly makes a difference in children’s lives.
