Hidden Gems: Meet Shauna Wardlaw of Fletcher’s Florals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shauna Wardlaw.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I grew up visiting the small flower shop in my hometown. When we moved from South Austin to Liberty Hill in 2021, the urge to play with flowers resurfaced. Initially, Fletcher’s Florals was primarily out of our home. Our focus was pop-up markets and events. As we entered 2022, we knew we wanted to move Fletcher’s Florals to an actual storefront in Liberty Hill. When the opportunity opened up for the location we are currently in, it felt like it was meant to be. We opened Fletcher’s Florals in September of 2022 and have fresh flowers, home, and gift items. We have merged a florist shop and home goods boutique to create a unique offering in Liberty Hill, and we really couldn’t be more proud of it.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been smooth sailing, but things must be learned, as with most new ventures. We’ve made it through 2 of the biggest holidays in the flower world and have been validated and humbled. Since opening in September, we have learned much and are grateful for the lessons. Some have been harder than others, but lessons bring growth and improvement.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are Liberty Hill’s Floral Boutique offering fresh flowers and a selection of items for your home or your next gathering. On the flower side, we have a small floral cooler that gets restocked weekly or more if needed. This means the flowers entering our client’s homes are fresh and last long. We keep an assortment of premium and unique flowers on hand so our clients get something special. In addition to our custom arrangements that we do daily, we also do weddings and corporate events.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check?
I love Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. There is one line very early on in the book, and I revert to it all the time. Highly recommend if you’re looking to be inspired. For work, I love Kathleen with @littlebirdbloom. She has some great advice from a business perspective, especially for the floral industry @flowermoxie is another good floral follow for inspiration and learning new tips and tricks. I see both of those accounts I catch on IG and Youtube.
