Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheraz Ali
Hi Sheraz, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My journey in business started when I was just 16 years old. Over the years, from 16 to 28, I managed various entertainment venues, marketing companies, and hospitality businesses, including restaurants and sports lounges. Despite facing numerous challenges and failures in my 20s, I persevered and decided to pivot into real estate at the age of 29.
For the past 10 years, I have dedicated myself to real estate, building a successful career. In Winnipeg, I established a robust rental portfolio and reached a milestone by selling 97 homes in my best year. Consistently, I ranked among the top agents year after year.
My journey to Austin, Texas, began during the COVID-19 pandemic when I met my wife, Amarah, through Instagram. We fell in love, and I decided to move to Austin to start my real estate business here. My primary focus is helping buyers, sellers, and investors with various types of properties, including short-term flips and new constructions. My diverse experience in Winnipeg, particularly in building houses, has been invaluable.
Recently, my wife and I welcomed our first child, Aleena, who is now seven months old. Balancing family and work, I continue to strive for excellence in the real estate market, serving the Austin community and its surrounding areas.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. By the age of 30, I had lost a million dollars from various businesses. However, I never saw those losses as failures but as valuable lessons. I learned a great deal about people, business, marketing, personal guarantees, leases, payroll, and other expenses—this was my school of hard knocks.
Moving to Austin and starting a business from scratch was a significant challenge, especially after having achieved success in Canada. Not knowing anyone in Austin made it even more difficult. Despite these hurdles, I embraced each lesson with a positive attitude. Gradually, things have improved, and I continue to meet wonderful people in the city of Austin, making progress every day.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sheraz Ali Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’ve always been a serial entrepreneur, involved in various companies throughout my life. Currently, my focus is on real estate. My company, Sheraz Ali Group, specializes in buying and selling houses and managing investments both from Canada and the U.S., particularly in Austin, Texas. At the moment, we are working on two flips in Austin and aim to scale this to four to five flips per month.
I specialize in assisting buyers, sellers, and investors in achieving their real estate goals, whether for long-term or short-term investments. Beyond real estate, I also run several other businesses, including a roofing company, a renovation company, and a financial education company called Stock Sharks. I love the sport of business and I love networking with other entrepreneurs.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to continue learning from others and to keep growing my real estate business. I aim to keep investing in real estate with my partners and to start various new businesses. Learning from one another and expanding these ventures is important to me. Additionally, I look forward to enjoying life with my family and growing my family.
