Hi Valerie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I am a local tie dye artist from Houston, Texas. I started my business @dyeyourwayy when I was 25 years old. My love for art has always been something that I dive into. I love creating and designing clothes. I tie dye custom t-shirts and I started during Covid pandemic lock down. I took on a new hobby to really help channel my energy when I was struggling mentally like most during lock down. I really appreciate the work that I do and love sharing my content with other. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth transition. I started by making shirts in my mom’s house using her bathtub and back yard for pretty much everything. I have moved around Houston and Austin so much that I find myself working in any bath tub or back yard I can find. It definitely is a struggle to maintain your own business especially being a one man show. I do love what I do though so even though it hasn’t been smooth. I am so happy.

So my business was started with just me and my mom in her living room during Covid. She took me to Walmart to get some dye and I just started. Once I realized I had an act for it, I realized it was something I would love to do as a business. I then made an Instagram page with all my information and content. I specialize now in custom t-shirts and custom anything really. I know how to sew, alternate and dye. I think what really sets me apart from others is my talent and skill when it comes to painting shirts. I am most proud to be a young Latina with her own business coming from Houston. Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory definitely has to be a easter party at the park. We would have them every year and crack confetti eggs on one another for hours. It was definitely one of my fondest memories.
