Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Vetra.
Hi Erica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been practicing yoga since I was 15 but never dreamed of including it in my life other than as a hobby. I just kept falling more deeply in love with it over the years through high school, college, and the start of my professional life. My other interests are classical piano, foreign languages (Italian in particular!), and travel. I lived in lots of different countries for many years, pursuing a wonderful career as a language teacher. I first started teaching yoga while living in Rome, Italy. It was so much fun! When I came back stateside, I spent the next five years working in International Education Administration.
During that time, I continued to teach yoga. I noticed that I was getting more fulfillment, joy, and positive feedback from my yoga communities than I was getting at my day job, so eventually, I made the switch to work for myself full time as a yoga teacher. In 2014 I started my online yoga and fitness business, Erica Vetra Fitness. It has been a roller coaster of triumphs, sacrifices, and the biggest learning experience of my life. A few years ago, I expanded my work to include yoga teacher training, leading yoga retreats, teaching martial arts as well as fitness, and teaching for universities. I absolutely love what I do, and though it is far from easy, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting, running and growing your own business is never a smooth road! I am a one-woman operation, and since I’ve created what I want from scratch, there has never been a road map. The biggest challenges have been learning how to plan realistically and how to recover from either mistake I’ve made or from things panning out differently than expected. I’ve learned many lessons in non-attachment and patience. That being said, I have always been a person who loves to learn and loves to work. If I didn’t naturally enjoy those things, I wouldn’t have my own business!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Erica Vetra, LLC?
I am a small, woman-owned business in the health and wellness industry. As a yoga instructor of 12 years, I offer expertise in yoga as well as fitness and fundamental aspects of martial arts. I teach live classes in all three of these areas as well as sell video subscriptions to my workout videos. The quality I bring to my work is what sets me apart. I bring authenticity, compassion, and humor to help empower people to optimize their full potential on and off the yoga mat. It can be easy to fall away from true connection with ourselves and others. Clients will tell you that my classes build a family-like community, and we use that support network to embody the innate strength everyone possesses to reach our goals, love ourselves more fully, and leave humanity better than we found it.

Great to see Erica getting a well deserved article published around the great yoga and fitness community she has built. I came across Erica on You Tube and rediscovered a love for Yoga based on her instruction and great delivery…..no one else I know can make chair pose bearable. I highly recommend her subscription for the yoga catalogue of classes or live classes. I am in the UK and it has been great to connect with people from around the world on theses classes during the various lockdowns in each country. Thank you Erica for bringing the Austin Texas sunshine to me each week.
