Inspiring Conversations with Alex Tiner of Howdy Heating and Air Conditioning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Tiner.

Hi Alex, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been doing heating and air conditioning for 21 years- started right out of high school- I worked for places all over Texas both and small companies, I always knew that I wanted to own my own and I wanted to offer old fashion – hand shake service.. so many companies today hire sales guys and pay commissions- we tell you everything up front and let you decide- we are always improving and always learning- mistakes can happen and will happen- we just have to do our best to make them right if they happen and learn from them

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Finding solid people to work has been hardest- you’ll find a guy then he makes some good money and calling in starts- or they get lazy and you can see them change-

Customers can make things tough sometimes when they have trouble understanding that we need to make a profit to hire quality people- have reliable vehicles- get the best training- we also deserve to have retirement and health insurance just like everyone else

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We have a donkey as our mascot that actually if a picture of our personal donkey made cartoon- Donkeys are the protectors of the farm and we want to protect your home and keep you comfortable. We are different because everyone of my customers get my cell phone number once a job is done- I don’t send you to a call
Center- or have some manager give you the run around- there is an issue or you need something we talk about it. We specialize in all that heating and air- also attic insulation and indoor air quality

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck is both bad and good even if in our turn our is bad or good. Confusing? Maybe but I think even bad luck will bring good luck if you can learn from what got you there.
