Inspiring Conversations with Aly DelaCoeur of Wag Enabled

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aly DelaCoeur.

Hi Aly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wag Enabled was started back in 2015 when my business partner and I saw a need to help pet parents really connect with their fur kids through education. At that point, we Why Does My Dog, a blog focused on video training for pet parents. I created this blog because I was a new dog owner and found it so confusing and frustrating to find vetted and educated dog information. There was so much noise in the industry that it was hard to identify those who were providing education. We began interviewing experts in the industry and providing that content for free for pet parents. We believe that everyone should have access to educated professionals that truly mean the best for their pets. A safe place for them to come to and know that everything on our site is meant to enhance the pet parent experience without making anyone feel bad or feel like they don’t have access to experts.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road by any means! One of our greatest roadblocks is being in an industry where there are so many different schools of thought about how dogs should be treated. I went to a university to get an education in applied animal behavior and will have people tell me that what I was taught was incorrect. I think it just comes down to what kind of a relationship do you want to have? I want it to be based on respect, love, and understanding.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Wag Enabled started out as a video blog. The focus was really on interviewing experts in the pet industry and providing that content to pet parents in a way that helps them connect with their dogs in a loving and trusting way. Our goal for 2022 is to take it a step further! We are creating a library of challenges that pet parents can participate in that will include things like working with separation anxiety or loose leash walking. The exciting part is that we will be partnering with local dog trainers! This will help promote their businesses and also help pet parents find AMAZING professionals in their area. We will also be creating a perks catalog of local pet-related businesses and brands.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We don’t want to be “the dog training expert.” Our goal is to be that trusted friend who you can come to and know that any product we’re recommending, we tried ourselves and truly stand before it. Any business that we are referring you to is someone that we trust with our own dogs. That they have the same philosophy of animal behavior science, love, trust, and mutual understanding. If it is something that our dogs don’t like, we will tell you and be honest.
