Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Rome
Hi Alyssa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My mom was actually a designer, so I was lucky enough to grow up around the interior design world. I didn’t immediately following in her footsteps and actually went a totally different route – an education and career in equine veterinary medicine. After several years of working in the horse industry, I decided I needed a change. After moving to Austin in 2015, I started my first job in the design industry as an office assistant for a local firm. I learned everything I could from that firm and working one on one with another designer, then started my own business in 2017.
Since founding Alyssa Rome Design I’ve had the opportunity to work on some amazing residential and boutique commercial projects, for which I provided both construction and furnishings expertise. I also had the life-changing experience of traveling through Europe for 2 months in 2023, which inspired an incredible new level of creativity that is reflected in several projects I’m currently working on.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first couple years were definitely a challenge! I was just trying to get my name out there and prove myself, so I ended up doing a lot of design work for free. After about 2 years and relentless networking, business finally picked up.
As you know, we’re big fans of Alyssa Rome Design. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Alyssa Rome Design has been repeatedly named on Austin Home Magazine’s best interior designers list and featured in Austin Lifestyle Magazine. Whether a project is new construction, a remodel, or new furnishings and decor, we support our clients throughout the entire interior design process from fine-tuning preliminary construction plans to hanging their final piece of artwork.
We believe that a space should be a celebration of each client and the life they’ve lived – a collection of textures and colors that reflect their own interests, individuality, and lifestyle. While each design project is carefully curated for each particular client, we have created a signature brand and style consisting of relaxing earth tones and a blend of timeless, vintage, and unique contemporary pieces.

We are currently taking on new projects for the Spring and are so excited to work with more wonderful clients in 2025!
