Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Hidalgo.
Hi Andrea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey really began with my own family. Growing up, I watched my brother struggle in a traditional school setting because of his ADHD. I saw firsthand how much potential kids can have when they’re supported in the right way, and how easily that potential can be overlooked when the system isn’t built for them. That experience shaped everything for me.
I studied biology at Texas Tech with a concentration in ecology and environmental science, and I tutored all throughout college. I loved teaching, but what I loved even more was helping students actually enjoy learning, especially those who didn’t fit the “one-size-fits-all” model.
Years later, that passion turned into Bloom Scholars. I created Bloom Scholars to give families a flexible, personalized alternative, something that adapts to each child rather than forcing the child to adapt to it. We started small, offering tutoring sessions online, but the demand grew quickly. Families were looking not just for academic support, but for structure, connection, and someone who genuinely cares about their kids’ progress and emotional well-being.
Today Bloom offers individualized tutoring, full homeschool programs, hands-on projects, and class materials. We’ve also been building a brand that supports families beyond the classroom, sharing educational content, parenting resources, and tools that help make learning feel lighter and more joyful.
It’s been a journey of constant growth, lots of learning, and so many amazing families. Everything we do is rooted in the same vision: helping kids feel seen, supported, and excited to learn, no matter where they are or what challenges they face.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Building Bloom has been incredibly rewarding, but also full of learning curves.
One of my biggest early challenges was simply starting out on my own, creating a program from scratch while trying to earn the trust of families. There’s no guidebook for building a tutoring and homeschool program that’s both flexible and high-quality, so a lot of it was trial and error.
Another struggle was balancing growth with personalization. As more families joined, I had to figure out how to maintain the same level of attention and care without burning out. I was the tutor, the admin, the curriculum designer, the scheduler, everything. Learning to scale and delegate while staying true to Bloom’s values took time.
There were also emotional challenges. Some of my students come in with learning gaps, anxiety, or difficult school experiences. Supporting them academically is one thing, but helping them rebuild confidence and trust in themselves takes patience, consistency, and heart. It’s meaningful work, but it’s not always easy.
And of course, like many small business owners, I had moments of doubt, wondering if I was making the right decisions, if families would value what I was creating, or if I could keep up with the demand.
But every challenge taught me something. Each struggle helped shape Bloom into the program it is today, more structured, more intentional, and more rooted in empathy. The obstacles have honestly been just as important as the successes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Bloom is a personalized education program designed to meet students where they are, academically, emotionally, and developmentally. We offer 1:1 online tutoring, full homeschool programs, hands-on projects, academic coaching, and curriculum materials created for different grade levels. Everything we do is guided by flexibility, structure, and genuine care.
We specialize in making learning engaging and customized. Every student has a unique way of learning, so we build lessons around their strengths, challenges, and interests. Families often tell me Bloom feels different from any tutoring program they’ve tried before, and I think that’s because we don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. We treat kids like whole individuals.
What truly sets us apart is our philosophy. Bloom is rooted in values like curiosity, independence, creativity, integrity, and empathy. We focus not only on academics but also on confidence, emotional regulation, and building long-term learning habits. Many of our students come to us discouraged or overwhelmed, and watching them “bloom” into confident learners is the heart of everything we do.
I’m also incredibly proud of how our brand is evolving. We’re expanding beyond services into products and digital tools so that families everywhere can benefit from Bloom’s approach. Right now, we’re building our own educational app to bring our curriculum, organization tools, and learning strategies directly to families in a more accessible way.
And as we grow, we’re stepping into the startup world as well. In 2026, we’ll be attending startup conferences in Silicon Valley, including the Startup Grind Conference, to learn, connect, and share Bloom’s mission with a broader community of innovators.
For readers who are discovering us for the first time, I want them to know that Bloom exists to make learning joyful, manageable, and meaningful. Whether a child needs help catching up, wants to move ahead, or needs a fully personalized homeschool program, we’re here to support their growth every step of the way.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, we have some exciting plans for Bloom’s growth. One of the biggest projects we’re working on is our educational app. We’re building a platform that will make Bloom’s curriculum, organization tools, and learning strategies accessible to families everywhere, not just those currently enrolled in our programs. The goal is to create a supportive, easy-to-use learning space that brings structure, flexibility, and guidance right to a child’s device. It’s a huge step toward making personalized education more available and more affordable for more families.
We’re also planning to expand beyond online services. In 2026, we’re beginning the groundwork for in-person Bloom locations, starting in Utah. These spaces will offer tutoring, homeschool support, learning pods, and hands-on workshops for families who want a more community-based learning environment. Utah has a growing homeschool and alternative education community, so it feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter.
Alongside those changes, we’re entering the startup world more intentionally. We’ll be attending startup conferences in Silicon Valley to connect with innovators, potential partners, and mentors who can help us scale Bloom in a meaningful and sustainable way.
Overall, the future feels really exciting. We’re growing, we’re building, and we’re staying true to our mission: making learning joyful, personalized, and accessible for every child we serve.
