Hi Ayesha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My career in dentistry has been guided by a commitment to patient-centered care and expanding access to quality services. I was drawn to dentistry because it combines healthcare, service, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. After graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry’s Department of Dental Hygiene, I began my professional journey working with established healthcare organizations such as Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin and Metro Dental Care in Minnesota, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical operations and patient experience.
Building on that experience, my husband and cofounder, Dr. Daood Alvi, and I set out to build a model of care focused on accessibility, trust, and high-quality service. This vision led to the development of Choice Dental Group, which has grown to serve several Central Texas communities including Temple, Taylor, Copperas Cove, and Killeen. As a woman in healthcare leadership, I’ve also valued the opportunity to help shape organizations that are both clinically strong and deeply rooted in service.
Our continued focus is on delivering personalized, community-driven care while thoughtfully expanding to meet the needs of the populations we serve.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has not been without its challenges. Scaling a healthcare business requires balancing operational growth with maintaining a high standard of patient care. We faced hurdles in areas such as staffing, systems development, and navigating the financial commitments that come with expansion.
One of the key challenges was ensuring that as we grew, we did not lose the personalized experience that defines our brand. That required intentional leadership, strong team development, and continuous process improvement.
Each obstacle ultimately contributed to building a stronger, more resilient organization and reinforced our commitment to delivering accessible, high-quality care.
