Inspiring Conversations with Carrie + Jeff Leinen of Assisted Living Locators

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrie + Jeff Leinen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Jeff and I purchased Assisted Living Locators of Austin after Jeff retired as an Emergency Room Physician with over 30 years of clinical experience. With my nearly 20 years as a Realtor, we decided to team up to help seniors and their families find senior housing and care solutions that meet their needs and fit their budgets. Our passion for senior living placement was born out of personal experience—helping several loved ones navigate the often overwhelming journey of aging care. Our work with Assisted Living Locators is service-centric and highly satisfying, which is precisely what we’re looking for during this era of our lives.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We are blessed to be supported by a long-standing organization – Assisted Living Locators. With a business coach and over 100 associated business owners, we have been guided on our journey. Even with the help, we have had to dive into the senior living world. Not only did we need to visit all the communities in our area, but we also needed to educate ourselves about services such as home care, home health, and hospice. It has been a learning curve, but well worth the effort.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Assisted Living Locators?
Exploring senior living options can be confusing and time-consuming. We offer a no-cost solution to seniors and their families, walking them through the entire decision process: answering all their questions, arranging and accompanying them on site tours, and educating them about the facilities available in their community. We guide our clients through the process from beginning to end, even staying in contact after they get settled into a new home. Deciding to make the jump to senior housing is usually a journey, not a snap decision. We also help clients engage with trusted home care, home health, and hospice providers if they desire to stay at home. Jeff’s experience as an Emergency Physician is a significant value-add to our clients, ensuring that they get the right level of care.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The senior living industry is booming and is expected to grow over the next decade. Driven by an increasing aging population, increased life expectancy, and strong demand. The senior placement industry is relatively new, taking much-needed pressure off seniors and their families. Many consumers still don’t know what we do, so education is key.
