Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Patterson.
Hi Chris, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our company has a long history of “METAL”. The owner of Texas Truss And Frame was involved in the production of metal “studs” back in the 1980’s and when it came back around to us a few years ago, he reminded me of that. He happens to be my husband. So, when I got involved with marketing and sales for LIGHT GAUGE STEEL panelized framing packages for commercial or residential fabrication, the destiny was familiar and a natural progression began to unfold. We already had a 14,000 SF Door Store, built to house our 501c3 called One Judge which supports Christian Charities, so expansion to LGS fabrication under the same roof made sense. With experience in real estate development, construction and retail sales to contractors, expansion to LIGHT GAUGE STEEL brought us full circle, serving our network of contractors and builders. Although we are in Bastrop Co, we service all of the USA and deliver international projects! Anything that can be engineered can be loaded on a flatbed trailer or shipping container, delivered to the job site and assembled FAST with self tapping screws.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a smooth path to growth and success! In only 2 years, we transitioned to complete fabrication and assembly with sales all over the US. We appreciate our customers and strive to create win-win partnerships, long term relationships and making new “family” friends. Once you come into the Texas Truss And Frame network, you are here to stay. Our only challenge seems to be helping contractors familiar with wood get into the new system of METAL construction. Some are just not ready to turn loose of the wood and hand saw! But that’s OK. In the 1960’s, who would have imagined that every home built in America would have a microwave oven? LIGHT GAUGE STEEL has the same future. The market shows, and I believe, that in 10-15 years most every structure will be made of metal. In fact, other countries wonder why we are still building with wood? Fire kindling and termites don’t mind! But as for me, lower insurance, no bugs and fire resistance are the way to build a forever home.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Texas Truss And Frame?

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor is a serious endeavor. You really need to “interview” the mentor and also ask yourself what king of person you want to become. It is important to be equally yoked. It is imperative to write down what qualities you want to develop in yourself, then find a mentor who exemplifies those traits and can help you develop them. There is an old saying, “Fait to plan, Plan to fail”. So establish a plan then seek out how to fulfill it. There is a person willing to help, just bo open, ask and look around.
