

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan And Allison Boone
Hi Ethan and Allison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For me (Allison), baking sourdough began as a passion and grew into something much bigger. Four years ago, baking became my way of reconnecting with the simple, wholesome ingredients that make real bread – flour, water, salt, and of course, sourdough starter. The turning point came in December of 2023, during my Christmas break from my corporate job. I decided to post on Facebook, offering freshly baked sourdough to friends and family, and the response was overwhelming. It felt like the right time, so in January 2024, I took the leap and made Boone Family Bakery my full-time focus. I started this bakery with a vision: to create bread that’s simple and healthy – free from the unpronounceable additives often found in store-bought loaves. My goal with Boone Family Bakery has always been to bring real, nourishing bread to my community. And within just a year, I was able to reach a point where my husband (Ethan) could join me full-time, which was an incredible milestone for us. Today, Boone Family Bakery is run by my husband and I, and we are both fully committed to bringing you the freshest, most authentic sourdough we can bake. We’re so proud of how far we’ve come and are excited for what the future holds.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While we’re incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received and how quickly everything took off, the journey has certainly had its share of challenges. One of the biggest obstacles was fine-tuning the proofing times to achieve that “perfect loaf.” Perfecting the process with just one loaf is a learning experience in itself, but scaling that up to batches of 100 loaves was a whole new ballgame – and definitely a learning curve! Like many new businesses, we also faced the financial hurdles that come with getting started. For us, that meant investing in essential equipment like two commercial refrigerators and our Simply Bread oven. These were significant expenses, but necessary for meeting the growing demand. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have the support of our community along the way, like John and Yen, the wonderful couple who run the Wolf Ranch Farmer’s Market. They generously loaned us their commercial mixer, which saved us countless hours of mixing by hand – a true lifesaver. Through it all, we’ve learned that no matter the challenges we face, we’ll find a way to overcome them. We’re committed to this journey, and we’re grateful for every step of the way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Boone Family Bakery?
We’re a husband-and-wife team passionate about baking real sourdough bread and treats right from our home. In a world where store-bought bread is packed with unnecessary ingredients and preservatives, we wanted to offer something simpler and more wholesome. Our loaves are made with just three ingredients—organic unbleached flour, filtered water, and salt. Nothing more. We believe that keeping it simple is what makes our bread truly special. With just the two of us running the show, we take great pride in bringing fresh, homemade bread to our community. Every loaf, cookie, scone, and treat we make is crafted with care and love—just the way it should be.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Funny enough, like so many others, I (Allison) started baking sourdough during the COVID-19 pandemic. That time gave me the chance to focus on my health and truly examine what I was putting into my body. The more I learned, the more passionate I became about baking sourdough and making better food choices. If there’s one key lesson we both took from that period, it’s just how important it is to nourish your body with intention and be mindful of what you eat.
