Today we’d like to introduce you to Hope Harris and Aivet Lopez.
Hi Hope Harris &, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We met while working at our first job within the legal field at a law firm in Austin, Texas. After a few years of working together, we became inseparable and followed to each other to a new firm that practiced different areas of law than the previous firm we were at. We were young and eager to learn about the different types of law. Fast forward to now (4+ years later), we can proudly say that we have managed hundreds of complex cases, which include: personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death, business formations and disputes, contract agreements, DTPA claims, real estate, and other matters in both State and Federal Courts.
As Paralegals, we notarize, sign, and witness a diverse array of legal documentation daily. There are many notaries who do this full-time and are very successful. We would mostly only notarize for our firm, and then one day we had that light bulb moment and thought we could also notarize outside of our 9-5 job on our free time and bring in extra money.
After a few signings, we gained momentum and decided we wanted to pursue this venture in full force. We got to work right away and here we are.
Our desire to help, combined with years of experience, has led to the formation of our notarial services company, H&A.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely has not been smooth all the way through. We have encountered challenges along the way, starting a business from the ground up is a learning experience. This calls for many late nights doing research and planning. In the beginning, we also found it very difficult to time manage a full-time job, our personal lives and our family all while building our own business.
Getting started itself is hard. We felt a lot of self-doubt, felt scared of rejection and failure, and overthought every little detail. This can often be discouraging.

H&A Notary Services is a women-owned business based in Austin, TX. It was founded by two experienced Paralegals; Hope Harris and Aivet Lopez. We notarize, sign, and witness a diverse array of legal documentation such as: affidavits, wills & deeds, loan signings, agreements and contracts, Powers of Attorney, settlements, Title Transfers, etc.
Hablamos Espanol! We are bilingual, our Spanish community can trust that we will properly translate and explain their very important documents so they have a full understanding of what they are signing and feel confident.
Additionally, we are mobile and will drive to you! Serving the greater Austin, TX area and neighboring counties.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
We love the community! Austin is a big supporter of women empowerment and women in business, amongst other movements and organizations. Not to mention, Austin has the best entertainment, food and social events.
We would have to say our least favorite thing about our city is the traffic!
