Inspiring Conversations with The Lane Group: Jolene Lane-Huereca of Phyllis Browning Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jolene Lane-Huereca

Hi Jolene, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my real estate journey over a decade ago as a solo agent with a lot of passion and very little clue of just how much this career would shape my life. I dove in headfirst, eager to help people find not just houses, but true homes. Over the years, through a lot of learning, hustle, and heart, I’ve grown from an individual agent to leading a powerhouse team of six amazing agents at The Lane Group. Today, I also have the privilege of serving as the sales manager for the New Braunfels office of the Phyllis Browning Company.

It’s been an incredibly rewarding ride. I adore what I do—there’s nothing quite like guiding clients through one of the most meaningful decisions of their lives, or mentoring fellow agents as they grow their own businesses. Real estate has given me the chance to build deep roots in the New Braunfels community, and I’m so grateful for every client, teammate, and challenge that’s brought me to this point.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, definitely not a smooth road—but I wouldn’t change a thing. Like many entrepreneurs, especially in real estate, some of the biggest struggles came from trying to do all the things, all the time. In the beginning, I wore every hat—marketing, client service, admin, showing homes, negotiating, you name it. The time commitment and sheer amount of hustle it took to get momentum was intense.

There were moments of burnout, moments of doubt, and times I questioned if I could truly scale without losing the personal touch I care so much about. But every challenge taught me something—how to set better boundaries, how to build a support system, and how to lead with both strategy and heart. Looking back, those struggles shaped me into a better agent, leader, and mentor.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is all about people and place. I’m a New Braunfels local through and through—this town isn’t just where I work, it’s home. I think that’s a big part of what sets me apart. I’m deeply involved in the community, and I make it a point to help clients not just buy or sell a home, but really plug into their place here. Whether that’s introducing them to local spots, events, or even new friends, I want them to feel like they belong from day one.

At The Lane Group, we focus on delivering a personal, high-touch real estate experience. We specialize in residential real estate—everything from helping first-time buyers to marketing luxury and unique properties. I’m also the sales manager for the Phyllis Browning Company here in New Braunfels, so I have the privilege of supporting other agents as they grow their business, too.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise is our reputation for service that goes beyond the transaction. We’re known for being approachable, knowledgeable, and truly caring. I want people to know that when they work with me or someone on my team, they’re getting more than just a real estate agent—they’re getting a local guide, a trusted advocate, and a long-term resource.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The best thing about New Braunfels is the sense of community—it’s truly special. There’s a warmth here, a feeling that people still take care of each other. The charm of the small-town vibe mixed with the energy of a growing city makes it such a unique place to live and work. I love that I can walk into a coffee shop and see familiar faces, then head to a local event and meet someone new who just fell in love with the town like I did.

Now, the flip side—I’d say the hardest part is keeping up with the rapid growth. As more people discover how amazing New Braunfels is, we’ve seen traffic increase, infrastructure stretch thin in spots, and housing affordability become a bigger challenge for locals. It’s definitely something we’re all navigating. But even in the midst of that, I still believe in the heart of this community and the opportunity to grow in a way that keeps that small-town spirit alive.
