Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Miller.
Hi Kennedy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography is something I have been doing since my senior year of high school, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I started to professionally pursue a career in photography.
I graduated from Tarleton State University (GO TEXANS) with a degree in general studies with an emphasis on business and psychology. I had every intention of getting a “big girl” job but my parents really pushed me to go full time in photography so that’s what I did. I needed their reminder that we don’t all have to fit in a box. That just because I went to college and had a degree didn’t mean I needed to go pursue something I wasn’t passionate about.
I am forever thankful for those conversations.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Because I started right before the pandemic full-time there has been plenty of challenges. Navigating that year and a half when the world was at a standstill was truly challenging all on its own. Now, on the other side I am so thankful for that time, where I spent it truly perfecting my craft! Photography is a constant learning experience and that is why I love it so much. It constantly pushes me past my comfort zone. There will always be challenges and obstacles but that’s the beauty of what I do in my opinion.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in weddings and that is what I am known for! Although weddings are my favorite to photograph, I adore walking through every stage of life with my clients and I truly believe that is what sets me apart. You become my family. From your senior year to college graduation, to spending the rest of your life with love of your life and creating a family, I truly want to be there for it all. To capture it all. So although I specialize in weddings and will continue to do so for years to come, I want to be a part of all your big or small celebrations in life!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t know if I believe in luck, truly. I think it has been a lot of hard work and prayer to get me where I am today. If you plan ahead, even for flat tires on the side of the road, and set yourself up for success by just doing the little things then I truly believe you can do whatever you set your mind to. It just might take time and effort!
