Inspiring Conversations with Lexie Hudson of Gray Wall Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexie Hudson.

Hi Lexie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
If you had told me a few years ago that my business would be built during nap times and late nights, I probably wouldn’t have believed you – but that’s honestly where a lot of the magic happened.

Entrepreneurship has always been in the background of my life because my parents owned a business, so I grew up watching the long hours, the stress, and also the pride that comes with building something from the ground up. Seeing them push through tough seasons gave me a realistic view of what it takes and the confidence that it’s possible.

I graduated from Texas A&M in 2017 and originally started my career in TV news as a reporter. That experience taught me how to tell stories, communicate clearly, and think on my feet. After news, I moved into government relations and then into corporate partnerships for a nonprofit. Each step gave me a better understanding of how organizations grow, build relationships, and connect with their communities.

While working at the nonprofit, I began creating content and managing social media for med spa for a friend – benefiting by helping her grow her online presence and giving me a creative outlet. In 2022, after having my son – flexibility became more than a preference, it became a necessity. I decided to take the leap and focus on my business full time.

What I’m most proud of is that my business didn’t grow from ads or cold calls – it grew from conversations, referrals, and genuine connections. It hasn’t been glamorous every day. As a single mom, there were plenty of long nights juggling client work after bedtime and moments where I questioned if I was doing enough in either role. But those seasons built resilience and clarity.

Today, my work blends creativity, communication, and real-world business understanding in a way that feels very true to me. My path hasn’t been linear, but that’s exactly what makes it mine – a mix of journalism, partnerships, motherhood, and entrepreneurship all colliding into a business that allows me to help other brands tell their stories while continuing to write my own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road.

Building a business while becoming a single mom meant learning how to balance responsibility, time, and energy in a whole new way. There were plenty of late nights, moments of uncertainty, and a lot of trial and error in the early stages. But those challenges also pushed me to become more disciplined, resourceful, and confident in my abilities.

In many ways, I’m thankful for the struggles because they shaped both my work ethic and the heart behind my business.

As you know, we’re big fans of Gray Wall Creative. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Gray Wall Creative is a digital marketing and content creation company focused on helping businesses show up online in a way that feels authentic, strategic, and consistent. We work primarily with small to mid-sized businesses on social media management, content strategy, branding support, and short-form video creation.

My background in journalism and corporate partnerships allows me to approach marketing from both a storytelling and a results-driven perspective, so it’s not just about posting – it’s about intentional communication that actually supports growth.

One of the things I enjoy most is helping clients step out of their comfort zones and show who they really are. A big part of my work is getting people out of their shells, letting their personalities shine, and reminding them that it’s okay to have fun with their brand. I’ve seen firsthand how that authenticity helps them grow, connect with potential clients, and build stronger relationships within their community. The world can be serious enough, and while professionalism always matters depending on the industry, sometimes making someone laugh or giving them something relatable can be the difference between a one-time viewer and a committed customer.

What sets GWC apart is the relationship-first approach. I don’t see clients as transactions; I see them as partners. Most of my work has grown entirely through word of mouth, which I’m incredibly proud of because it means the results and experience speak for themselves. I’m also known for being hands-on and adaptable – whether that’s filming content on site, helping refine messaging, or stepping in as an extension of a client’s team rather than an outside vendor.

Brand-wise, GWC was built from the ground up with consistency, resilience, and real connection at its core. My goal is always to make marketing feel approachable, creative, and effective rather than overwhelming.

I want readers to know that my services are designed to meet businesses where they are, help them feel confident in their voice, and ultimately create content that not only looks good but genuinely connects!

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is building a life my son can be proud of. Being a single mom has been a huge motivator – not just to provide for him, but to show him what resilience and independence look like. I want him to grow up knowing that challenges don’t have to stop you; they can push you to GROW!

I also hope to be a motivation for other single moms or women who might feel like starting their own thing is out of reach. My journey hasn’t been perfect or easy, but that’s kind of the point – I want people to see that you don’t need the “ideal” circumstances to go after what you want.

On the business side, what really matters to me is helping other businesses grow and get creative. I love seeing someone step into their confidence or realize they can show up as themselves and actually connect with their community. If I can support my son, inspire even one other mom, and help other business owners succeed along the way, that’s what makes all of this worth it for me.
