Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Jordan
Hi Madison, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I was the oldest. Not only was I the oldest, but I was the oldest of 4 and the product of a mom who owned and operated a daycare center. Babies, toddlers, diapers, bottles and conversations of nap times and wake windows were a huge part of my childhood. From early on, all I wanted to be was a mom.
Throughout my early years, I grew a deep desire and curiosity for motherhood and for babies. I vividly remember when my littlest sister Sophie was born, I told my mom she didn’t have to take care of her baby anymore – I’d do it. I was 7 at the time. So while my mom respectfully rejected my offer, she did encourage me to help with her. I loved every second of becoming a little mommy’s helper. As I got a bit older, I would offer the same for my neighbors and the second I got my license it was game over. Family, family friends, friends of family friends, you name it. Word got out and I became the date night sitter. I loved every second of it. Earning money from playing mommy outside of school hours felt illegal. I just genuinely loved it so much and always thought a “job” wasn’t supposed to be an enjoyable thing.
After high school, I went on to college to earn my bachelors in early childhood and special education. A teacher seemed like a fitting route to take my life. Those years were a combination of studying child development and earning cash on the side as either a part time daycare employee, a casual date night sitter, or a full time summer nanny. After college, I dabbled a bit in my degree as a substitute teacher, became a 4th grade writing teacher and then ultimately left to travel and go back to working with the littles as an au pair for a family in Sydney, Australia. It was then that I realized I loved the freedom to travel the world while also… doing what I loved. I ended up falling madly in love to a handsome Australian man, getting married 11 months later, and moving all around and meeting all kinds of new families and study their family structures and dynamics.
I spent about 5 years on and off nannying as a career. Humbling work, but rewarding work. It was within these years, my mid-twenties, that I realized, motherhood is freaking hard and… I get a break. I get to go home… take a shower (when I want to)… eat (without little hands picking at my plate)… and sleep (uninterrupted). It’s no wonder I would go to work the next day and feel refreshed, while the moms were happy to pass their littles off exactly at 8 AM and relieving me no second short of 5 PM. I get it, but as much as I witnessed these struggles first hand, I was determined more than ever to learn as much as I could for my family one day. I often asked myself: How do moms do it? What did they do to prepare for motherhood? This series of questions led me to where I am today.
If nannying taught me one thing, its that time goes by so fast. Every mother deserves to freeze a small season of their life in time to look back on and feel those feelings they had before shiz hit the fan! In 2022, I did my best friend’s maternity photos after her photographer cancelled last minute. Me and my $75 garage sale Canon had zero experience, besides the occasional sunset pictures or family occasion.
I didn’t know it at the time, but that maternity session would be the first of many and the start of my motherhood photography business today, From Bump to Bubbs. I specifically capture the milestones to motherhood, documentary-style, from announcements to newborns and most everything in between. It’s almost a bit of a full circle moment working with moms and babies in a way I never thought I would, but in a way that serves my curiosity all while building a network of new moms and thinking about finally becoming one myself!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is never smooth haha. There are always going to be bumps, hiccups, roadblocks. But that’s what makes it a journey… and a fun one at that! Learning to adapt, be flexible, and shift when problems arise is a large part of being an entrepreneur. In fact, that is the definition of an entrepreneur. The more problems that come up and the better, the faster you get at solving them, that’s when you see success. The problems won’t ever end or stop coming, they’ll just become bigger as you grow. Roadblocks happen every day and to me that’s a sign that I’m still in the game… I’m doing the thing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about From Bump to Bubbs?
From Bump to Bubbs, often referred to as FB2B or FB2B Motherhood, has become both a place for motherhood photography and a community for new moms of all ages, stages, and locations in the world. We specialize in documentary-style photography for the milestones leading to motherhood. In saying that, we offer 7 different milestone sessions: pregnancy announcements, gender reveals, maternity sessions, baby showers, birth sessions, newborn sessions, and family sessions. We offer a few special bundles which can be found on our Instagram @frombumptobubbs and our website https://unscriptedphotographers.com/frombumptobubbs. I’m most proud of our community. I love being able to support our moms in both a creative way, but also by establishing support groups where new and experienced moms can chat, meet up, and learn from each other. If you follow along our Instagram, you’ll often here me say it was never and will never be about the photos. Don’t get me wrong, I love making moms smile and I love using creativity as a means of expression, but this community means more to me than my lens ever will. That’s the truth and that is where I see this business heading in the future.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
