Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Read of Michelle Read Sleep Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Read

Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I retired from teaching elementary school, I wanted to continue working with children in some way so I began babysitting. I also became a night nanny for parents of newborns and when those tired parents began asking me questions about how to get their baby to sleep for longer stretches, I became inspired to find the answers for them. In my research I discovered sleep consulting and knew it would be a perfect match! At the same time, I remembered when my first son was a baby. I was so sleep deprived that doing the simplest of tasks seemed impossible. I didn’t know any one that could come alongside me and help me get my baby to sleep well. I have determined and am passionate that I can make a difference for families by helping them thrive and enjoy those early years more readily by helping their child sleep well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been an exciting road, for sure! I have met and spoken to some wonderful parents along the way. This being my first experience running a small business, it has provided plenty of challenges, but I try to look at those bumps as great learning opportunities. Luckily, I have wonderful people that are always willing to help if I’m stuck.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Michelle Read Sleep Solutions?
As a certified Sleep Sense Consultant for infants through 4-year-olds, I am here to help parents/caregivers teach their child (or children) how to sleep through the night in his own bed and in his own room. (If that is their desire) Sleep Sense has worked for thousands of families world-wide.

To accomplish this goal quickly and gently, I listen to parents’ needs and customize a step by step plan that shows them how to teach their child independent sleep skills allowing for longer more restorative sleep at night and for naps. I take into consideration the child’s temperament, parenting styles and the desired outcomes. With the aid of a virtual consultation, text messages, phone calls, and sleep log monitoring, I’ll be their cheerleader and coach, encouraging them every step of the way, and available to answer the “what now?” questions.

One Mama had this to say, “We’re so grateful to have found Michelle. From the very beginning, she was thoughtful, thorough and compassionate – all while being always on the ball and very timely with her responses.”

What sets me apart is my compassion and commitment to my families’ success. I want the best for their child and family.

Let’s make sleep “a thing” in your home!

At the end of our time working together, a Dad said this, “Even the dogs are sleeping better!”

Expecting a baby? I offer newborn sleep education so that you know what to expect when your little one arrives. I share my sleep shaping goals through routines. Routines that you can do from Day 1 and when done consistently can prevent the need for sleep training down the road.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve always believed that in whatever you want to do, find someone that is doing it well. Watch and listen to them. Ask lots of questions. I think it is important to be that for someone else as well.
