Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Tullous of Be Well Thermography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Tullous.

Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My start in wellness is a little unconventional. Sixteen years ago, during what I jokingly call my quarter-life crisis, I visited a local psychic to understand why I was feeling so restless in my corporate job. I even asked whether I should pursue massage or yoga. He told me, “You’d be a nurturing massage therapist… but the perfectionist in you would over-correct yoga students.” I laughed and he wasn’t wrong.

He also said I’d meet someone in three days. Oddly enough, I did, and that conversation nudged me to enroll in massage therapy school the following week. Massage immediately became the intuitive, creative outlet I had been searching for.
From there, I just kept following my curiosity. I completed an integrative nutrition program, explored frequency therapy and the AO Scan, and eventually discovered thermography — which felt like all the puzzle pieces finally clicking into place. I became fascinated by the patterns the body reveals and how they offer insight into breast health, inflammation, lymphatics, and more.

To round out the picture, I later incorporated Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). Minerals quietly run the show in the body, influencing mood, energy, resilience, and even fertility, and HTMA felt like the missing puzzle piece in understanding the whole person.

I don’t have a dramatic “I overcame a major illness and now I help others” story. My path has been more of an unfolding — listening to intuition, following what feels aligned, and letting curiosity lead the way. Sixteen years ago I followed a psychic reading, and that one moment opened the door to a journey I never could have mapped out myself.

Today, Be Well Thermography is where all of those seemingly random interests finally make sense together. It’s rooted in compassion and intuition, but also grounded in science, data, and genuine support for people who want to understand their bodies more deeply.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is simply awareness. Thermography isn’t nearly as mainstream as mammograms or other conventional imaging, so a lot of people are hearing about it for the very first time. That means I spend a good amount of time educating people on what thermography is, what it isn’t, how it fits into a wellness routine, and why inflammation patterns can be so revealing. I actually enjoy this part, but it definitely takes patience and repetition.

Another challenge is that thermography doesn’t fall under the traditional insurance model, which can make people hesitate at first. The good news is that clients may be able to use their HSA or FSA funds, which is always a happy surprise for them. Bringing a lesser-known modality into a world that’s used to checking the “Is this covered by insurance?” box definitely adds an extra layer of conversation.

And of course, running a one-woman wellness practice means wearing all the hats: technician, educator, scheduler, marketer, emotional support system — you name it. It’s rewarding, but it’s a juggling act, especially since I offer multiple modalities and want everything to feel cohesive rather than confusing.

Even with these challenges, I wouldn’t trade this work. It’s pushed me to grow, communicate more clearly, and support people who want to understand their bodies on a deeper level. And someday, I’d love to create a fund to help underserved women access preventative imaging, because this kind of insight shouldn’t depend on luck or resources alone.

We’ve been impressed with Be Well Thermography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Be Well Thermography is a wellness practice focused on preventative health and deeper body awareness through medical thermography, mineral testing, and supportive holistic tools. I work primarily with women who want a non-invasive, radiation-free way to monitor breast health, inflammation, lymphatic patterns, and other early indicators of imbalance that often go unnoticed in traditional care.

My approach blends science and intuition, using thermography and HTMA to show what the body is expressing on a functional level, and pairing that with education, compassion, and practical next steps. Many of my clients have felt overlooked or dismissed in conventional settings, and thermography often gives them a sense of clarity and validation that they haven’t found elsewhere.

I also collaborate with a wide range of functional wellness providers across Austin, including lymphatic therapists, chiropractors, midwives, and integrative practitioners, so clients can easily connect their thermography findings to deeper, root-cause care. These partnerships help create a supportive, whole-person approach where thermography becomes a meaningful part of someone’s long-term wellness plan.

In addition to thermography, I offer Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis to help clients understand how their mineral patterns influence mood, energy, resilience, and overall wellness. I also incorporate frequency-based tools like the AO Scan for emotional harmonizing and nervous-system support, creating a well-rounded, approachable experience.

At its core, Be Well Thermography exists to give people insight into their health in a way that feels empowering, gentle, and deeply respectful of their entire story.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you’re just starting out on a wellness path, my biggest advice is to follow your curiosity. My own journey wasn’t mapped out, it unfolded one small nudge at a time, starting with a random visit to a psychic who pointed me in a direction that I might have never chosen on my own.

You don’t need the whole plan or a perfectly defined niche to begin. Let yourself explore, learn, and pivot. Trust the things that feel aligned, even if they don’t make sense yet, and give yourself permission to grow at your own pace.

And most importantly, stay connected to why you want to help people, that’s what keeps you grounded, even when the path twists in unexpected ways.
