Today we’d like to introduce you to Moses Buzan
Hi Moses, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My family opened the 74 Man Store in October of 2021. Shortly after, I graduated from high school and went off to college. I found myself not fond of college and decided to help with our family business. I started off as a sales associate. As the business and my experience grew, I learned a lot and took on more responsibility to become the store manager. With no prior retail or business experience it has been a bumpy road as we’ve worked to figure out current trends, marketing, and how to conduct all the behind the scenes of a retail business.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, there have been many challenges. I think most prominently, not having any formal training or schooling in business, can make operating a business very daunting. As I’ve learned the ins and outs of running a business, mostly through trial and error, I’ve became more confident in what I’m doing. I feel I finally have a good grasp of everything and am able to navigate any challenges that arise.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
74 Man Store is a men’s boutique nestled in the heart of Taylor, Texas. Proudly family-owned and operated since 2021, our unique shop offers a selection of men’s clothing and gits. We are a third generation business on Main Street in Taylor, Texas. With a welcoming atmosphere and personalized customer service, 74 Man Store creates an inviting space where fashion meets comfort. With the charm of a small family owned business we hope to be the one stop shop for any man. Our great customer service is something we take pride in, you will always be greeted with a smile and on special occasions we offer complimentary drinks to everyone that comes in. We offer embroidery on all of our clothing and most accessories to personalize items to our customers.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My father, James Buzan, is who I owe the most credit to. When he offered me the job of running the store, I was hesitant because I felt I had no idea what I was doing. He encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and continually pushes me to grow and learn. This venture was a new experience for him, having spent most of his career in the corporate world. Lack of experience didn’t stop him from perusing his goals. He’s taken all that he learned and developed while working a cooperate job and made it work for the store. Between business meetings, progress reports, and business development plans I am able to experience my dad in way that a lot of people don’t get to experience their parents. I get to see what he did and how he operated for so many years of his life and it has opened my eyes to how much he scarified for me and our family. I owe so much to him. He is my mentor, supporter, my biggest fan, but most importantly he is a loving and caring dad. He is the type of man that I strive to be.
