Today we’d like to introduce you to Portia Riggins.
Hi Portia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Thank you for having me on your fascinating platform. To describe my story in 3 words, I keep going! Simplest way to explain my journey. Wow, it has been such a beautiful one, I must admit. Having gratitude keeps me focused on true optimism meaning I love to keep confidence about the future, and its successful outcomes. So I wake up, and dress up like my outcome will shine so bright. God, Family, Friends, and my loved ones are always praying for the greater good. Keeps me motivated in all my endeavors. Where do I start? well since I was a kid I’ve always been a listener and great creative. I love entertainment and, music from gospel choirs to hip hop freestyles. Once I became an 18 year old adult my career in modeling became bigger than a small town buzz. Modeling opened doors that lead to more doors. I modeled in a heavy hitter modeling group, and intern for a top culture media group in Austin while working a 9-5. Understanding early that having multiple opportunities and multiple sources of incomes was the future goal. I’m currently 29 years old; nothing is perfect about me.
However, I also know that I’m not defined by my mistakes. I’ve endeavored in many career fields such as being a brand ambassador, pageant contestant, community giver, model featured as Jet Beauty of the Week, event producer, customer relations specialist, entrepreneur, and more to find my threshold. I have produced so many successful events in Austin, TX. Ranging from 150 to 1000 city goers in attendance under one building. It was a winning regular era! I’m a polymath, multipotentiality, and a jack of all trades. One of my businesses is called #WhatModelsWant, furthermore my networking contacts reaches many metropolitan areas, I know some of the most powerful natives of Austin, Tx that are my mentors, I’ve hosted and produced numerous stars studded events, I’ve been heavily involve with giving back to the local community and so much more. I look to join politics one day, but as for now my focuses will be help building the community and economy to succeed through this pandemic step by step. Now, I’m launching my newest business venture, and you guys E-ffordable Tax LLC is my tax preparation business that will be reliable, credible, and luxury filled. Our mission is to have a successful tax business providing tax filing, accounting, bookkeeping, financial services/ understanding; while also hitting sales goals, and financial metrics.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacles and challenges is defeating procrastination. It’s important to have real self-discipline in all fields you work especially the entrepreneurs. Continue to learn each day! I currently just ended my Fall semester with an A in Accounting while juggling so many things at once during a pandemic. We are the leaders of today, and tomorrow!
We’ve been impressed with E-ffordable Tax LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
E-ffordable Tax LLC is my tax preparation business that will be reliable, credible, and luxury filled. Our mission is to have a successful tax business providing tax filing, financial understanding while we hit sales goals, and financial metrics. This tax service will focus on building the inner communities. We will provide services assisting low income families, and small businesses. We will heighten our limits as we grow. We will indeed make sure to invite all our Voyage Austin readers to our first official event launch for the company and community. Y’all heard it here first! We will take the lead to help our communities thrive.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a child my memories are bright. I was raised to be a wise woman that is a servant of God. I played on sports teams, went to church every Sunday servicing in the choir, usher board, and as a youth leader. I enjoyed art, track and field day, basketball, music, and entertainment. I’ve learned how to lead my culture when it’s my reigning turn. God, my family, and loved ones played a huge role in my growth.
