Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Korea, and I moved to the United States after marrying my husband.
I’m a mom of three, I faced a challenge while breastfeeding my second daughter, who had a dairy allergy. As someone who loves desserts like bread, cookies, and pastries, it was difficult not being able to enjoy my favorite treats.
This led me to start baking at home using high-quality, allergy-friendly ingredients.
What began as a personal solution quickly grew into a passion. With encouragement from friends and family, Ahn’s Bakery was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. As a mother of three, time is always in short supply. While I love baking and feel excited when orders come in, juggling everything can be overwhelming. There are times when I feel rushed to finish orders because there’s so much to manage.
Unfortunately, this has sometimes led to moments where I find myself losing patience with my children, which is never what I want. Balancing my passion for baking with the demands of motherhood has been one of the biggest challenges, but it’s also taught me the importance of time management and self-compassion.

Ahn’s Bakery is a home-based bakery that specializes in creating delightful, freshly baked treats made with love.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe that in the next 5-10 years, the bakery industry will continue to focus more on health-conscious options, such as gluten-free, vegan, and low-sugar alternatives.
Consumers are becoming more aware of the ingredients in their food and are looking for treats that are not only delicious but also healthier.
At Ahn’s Bakery, we are already offering various options to support our customers’ healthier choices and are constantly working to meet the demand for healthier baked goods.
Additionally, there will likely be an increase in demand for personalized or custom baked goods, and we aim to provide special products that cater to our customers’ preferences and dietary needs.
