Inspiring Conversations with Raj Sahoo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raj Sahoo.

Hi Raj, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When the pandemic hit in March 2020, I was just getting started as a Realtor. At that time, I was excited to hear both my sister and my cousin wanted to move to Austin and buy a new home. There was one BIG problem. They could not fly here due to restrictions at that time. To help them in their home-buying decision without being able to show them anything in person, I bought a gimbal (phone stabilizer), a wide angle lens, and a drone to get them as much video footage as possible.

Over the course of a few months and many multiple offer situations, I was able to find an off-market home from a builder for my sister and helped my cousin beat out 17 offers on a resale. The best part was when they moved here, and they felt like they already knew the area from my videos. That’s when I knew I needed to make more videos and help others.

So I started posting videos of homes and neighborhoods on Youtube & Facebook. As a result, I have been able to help 44 clients with their move to Austin all after meeting them through Youtube & Facebook.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has been a very difficult road. Since January 2020, I have represented buyers in the most difficult buyers’ market we have ever seen in Austin. Every weekend was filled with multiple offer situations, trying to see homes before they were even listed to beat out other buyers, and creating/maintaining good relationships with builders to open up opportunities for my clients first. Although this was extremely difficult, the end reward of having my client move into their dream home made it all worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Realtor and my team specializes in new construction around Austin, TX. We have a unique approach to a buyer’s home search. Instead of just showing homes each weekend, we build out a buyer board using a software platform called Trello, which shows all of the options within our buyers’ home search criteria. At their fingertips, they can access videos of homes, links to floorplans showing options, and they can see a detailed analysis of each community that fits their needs.

This helps them stay organized throughout the home search process and helps with interacting with various homes.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
