Inspiring Conversations with Richard Sager of Adventures with Dick Hobby & Games

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Sager.

Hi Richard, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to texas back In 2021 and while working down here I decided to take a leap of faith and start something I had a deep passion for which is cards and collectibles. When I first got established I only did online and city events but as I grew in the community I got a spot at the local flea market and quickly went from a small unit to a larger unit at the market while working a full time job. After around 1.5 years I finally had saved and built up enough client base to get a physical location in the plum Creek area of Kyle,tx. Which is where I’m currently located and have just finished renovations. To provide play space and a more professional atmosphere to the local community. I am also a proud member of the BBB and Kyle chamber of commerce. If I could let people know one thing it’d be follow your dreams because you never know where they’ll take you.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggles were finding an affordable lease within Kyle, obtaining product, and marketing especially when I didn’t have a physical location. But these issues helped to shape me into the person I am today by strengthening my resolve and problem solving abilities.

As you know, we’re big fans of Adventures with Dick Hobby & Games . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in creating a welcoming and community centered environment. Providing play space for up to 8 people as well as a wide variety of TCG games, TCG supplies, collectibles, and Japanese snacks and drinks. We are a small family owned and operated business with big plans to grow into something that can shape the industry into what it is meant to be an inclusive, clean, and welcoming space that can provide for the ever growing Austin community.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is sharing the same interests and love as my customers being able to spark conversations about anime, pop culture, and TCG. This makes me happy because it helps me build better relationships with my customers sharing the sentiment that they matter and are important not just to me but to the community.
