Inspiring Conversations with Sara and Diana of Diana Boch + Alicia Miranda (DB + AM)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara and Diana.

Sara and Diana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Diana and I met while working at a local apparel manufacturing company. Since 2020 we have had our own individual lines. Diana’s clothing line consists of womenswear, menswear, and childrenswear. Her style is funky, fun, and bright. My clothing line is vintage-inspired womenswear. We both have a great love for creating clothes, we have a lovely friendship, and mutually respect one another’s talent and creativity.

Combining our styles to create one fashion line has been a goal of ours for a while. Diana’s strength is being creative and technical when it comes to apparel construction. She has a love for being part of the production process. My strong suit has been managing the business side. Organizing the business side of a fashion line is where I flourish. Balancing both sides of the fashion business is crucial to success. Making mutual decisions about designs and business is where we both work well together.

Our combined fashion line would expand our childrenswear, creating fun, funky, and vintage-inspired looks for both boys and girls. Our womenswear would be a combination of separates and dresses. We want to include mommy and me fashions. For menswear, a combination of fun with vintage style including daddy and me fashions as well. We want to focus on creating a family-oriented clothing business. We’re also wanting to create accessories. Create one-of-a-kind fabric prints for our clothing.

Not only do we want to create clothes, but we also want to create job opportunities for local individuals. We want to buy/rent a commercial space to start our own apparel production facility. We want to hire skilled laborers who sew and would like to expand on their skills and actually work in something they love to do which is create clothing. We’re also looking into hiring students or emerging designers who want the opportunity to learn apparel production and the business side of a fashion line. Because of the experiences Diana and I had working in this industry which at times was great and then at times it wasn’t. Learning all the good and bad, we’ve learned what to do and what not to do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh yes, for sure, it has been at times a smooth road and then at times not, unfortunately. I think this is where Diana and I really had a lot in common through our experiences working in the fashion industry. We were very blessed to work for and with individuals who took the time to teach us, and to mature our skills. In reality, we are also very blessed for the bad experiences because with less than-desirable jobs and circumstances there’s always something you can learn and take with you. Experiences can make you or break you. With experiences, we learned what works and what doesn’t. Now that we are both business owners, we can now take what we’ve learned from the good and bad experiences and apply or not apply it to our own business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Diana Boch + Alicia Miranda is our combined fashion line. We’re combining our fashion lines hence the name. My fashion line is called Alicia Miranda, named after my Abuela.
