Inspiring Conversations with Sara Stein of Sara’s Wedding Pet Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Stein.

Hi Sara, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My love for animals began at a very early age, rescuing strays with my mom. My family always had a house full of animals and it was a huge part of my upbringing. I always knew my heart belonged with our furry friends, but I was inspired to do more when I visited Cuba in 2008 and saw the hard life stray animals were living on the streets. I immediately decided to go to school for Veterinary Technology and become a Licensed and Registered Veterinary Nurse, which I did for 10 years! I worked in both shelters and general practice, gaining lifelong pet sitting clients along the way. I also ran my own rescue for years. I sing with wedding bands as well and am very familiar with the structure of a beautiful wedding day. This is when I decided to combine my knowledge of these wonderful events with my love for animals! I know I’d want my pet as close as possible for such an important day as my wedding. Thus, Sara’s Wedding Pet Care was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Loving animals is never easy, there is always heartbreak involved, but the joys and moments of happiness they bring are endless.

We’ve been impressed with Sara’s Wedding Pet Care, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
For those wanting their beloved pet to be involved in one of the most special days of their lives, they may feel unsure how to go about doing that. Having a friend or family member assist is an option, but it can take that person away from the festivities and put more pressure on them than the bride and groom may want. That’s where I come in instead! Sara’s Wedding Pet Care offers attentive, loving care to the guest of honor (the pet). I make sure they are ready for their shining moments, like walking down the aisle, shining in photos, or mingling during cocktail hour and assure the fur baby is not feeling anxious or nervous in any way. If the pet and I have downtime during the event, we will get some exercise, take water breaks, and get some good cuddles in before we are needed. I also offer transport to and/or from the venue so the pet does not have to spend too much time out of their comfort zone. Seatbelt always included! Have more than one pet? I can do that, too, no problem! I have wonderful assistants.
A complimentary in home meet and greet prior to the big day is a great way for me to get to know the bride and groom and my star of the show. My rates are based on time, so it’s up to the bride and groom on what they’d like their fur baby to be involved in during the big day. I’m always happy to give suggestions and advice.
I pride myself on making sure the pet is relaxed, happy and feeling comfortable. It can be an overwhelming day for our pets, but I’ll be there by their side the whole time, making sure they are content!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am also a professional vocalist and sing at multiple weddings throughout the year! I’m a ballet dancer and my day job is working with young children.
