Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Bray.
Hi Shannon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been a hairstylist for 15 years and worked in several different salons throughout my career. I learned so much about what I loved and what I didn’t love in a salon and I never forgot what I learned along the way. When I opened Canvas Salon, I wanted to create the salon that I always wanted to work in. What I never realized is that I was opening a salon that other stylists wanted to work in as well. It has blown my mind to see how loved my vision has become.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, I really can’t complain. I love what I do, and so owning a salon has been an easy transition for me. I will say I think I need to hire more help on the back end. Taxes and paperwork are not my strong suit!

Canvas Salon is a full-service hair salon in downtown Dripping Springs. I opened the salon in May of this year and we are growing and glowing! We have already been voted the best hair care services in Drip! With six stylists and room for two more, we can accommodate hair of all kinds.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is how I make others feel. How as a stylist, I make my clients feel. How as a business owner, I make all of our clients feel, and how as a “boss” I make my team feel. I want them to all feel like I care because I do and like their opinion matters because it does.
