Hi Tanisha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I had gotten laid off from my full-time job in October 2022. From there, I felt lost and unsure of how I wanted or should move forward. I was job searching on Indeed and found this opportunity to work from home booking travel. I responded to it and decided to leap. From there, I watched many training videos, got my certification, and launched my travel business. It’s perfect because I need the flexibility to make my hours and spend meaningful time with the people important to me. I enjoy helping people curate their dream vacations and make them a reality. I also have many opportunities to learn about different places worldwide and see why each place is unique. This business also helps me get out of my comfort zone by putting myself out there. I’ve never been much of a sharer about my life, but this opportunity allows me to explore my creative side in marketing and set myself apart from others. To this day, I’m still learning, and I love it!
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has been challenging. It took me a little while to gain some traction and clients. I’ve had to stay on my toes and create eye-catching but also exciting and engaging content. Most people see or hear about stuff on social media these days, and I’ve never been one to post constantly. My business has forced me to be more active in my life and be more intentional in what I do in almost everything. There have also been times when I’ve struggled with consistency and posting according to a schedule because my schedule is ever-changing, but I had to tell myself to stop sacrificing my business.
We’ve been impressed with Moonlight Vacations, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart?
Moonlight Vacations is my full-service travel agency. I specialize in honeymoons and cruises but can book any travel, including flights, packages, tickets, tours, etc. I work with my clients from beginning to end, starting with the research up until they return from their trip. That also includes any issues that may arise during that trip, my clients can call me, and I will work directly with the vendor (airline, hotel, etc.) they need help with to rectify the situation. I also like to build relationships with my clients, so they can fully trust me to handle their vacation plans or feel comfortable bringing any problems they have to me. When booking with me, my clients know they get the whole experience, care, and determination to satisfy their needs.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years, the travel industry will continue to boom. The popular destinations now will still be popular. Still, many lesser-known places will also become more popular as people who have been to them share their experiences on social media more.
