Today we’d like to introduce you to Tejas Patel. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Dr. Tejas Patel has become one of the top cosmetic dentists in the United States.
When I tell people about my name, where it comes from, and what it means, first I have to tell them where I’m from.
First, my parents are from India and they immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s.
I was born in Queens, New York and my parents liked the name Tejas because it means “light” in Sanskrit (an older Indian language).
My name is supposed to be pronounced like “Tay-gious” or think like “con-tagious.”
When I was 2, my family moved to Houston, Texas.
It wasn’t until we moved to Texas that people started asking my parents about my name. People would be calling me “Tay-haus,” and my parents had no clue what people were talking about or saying. It wasn’t until someone explained to them that “Tejas” is actually Spanish for Texas.
When I was born and my parents named me, they had no idea that my name was Spanish for Texas or that we would all be settling down and living in Texas.
Some people think I was named after the state of Texas. I do love living in Texas and have loved growing up here, but like I said my parents had no idea.
Dr. Patel was born in New York and then at the age of two, he and his family moved to Houston, Texas. Dr. Patel grew up in Houston and then attended dental school at the University of Texas dental branch in Houston.
During dental school, he and his wife visited Austin frequently and fell in love with the city.
After graduating, he started his dental practice in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Patel has 20 years of experience and He performs cosmetic dentistry procedures (like porcelain veneers) daily and completes smile makeovers for patients from all over the US from his Austin Cosmetic Dentistry office.
Dr. Patel and his team have completed thousands of smile makeovers and have helped their patients get a more confident smile.
Dr. Patel is also a rising social media star with over 2 Million followers on TikTok and has created some of the most viral cosmetic dentistry videos.
Dr. Patel’s practice is located in downtown Austin Texas. Dr. Patel lives in Austin with his wife and two daughters and two doggies. He enjoys movies, reading, comic books, traveling, music and spending time outdoors.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Been a windy road, just with lots of twists and turns as I was trying to find what fits me best within my profession. I’ve always done cosmetic dentistry but it took a while to be able to commit my practice 100% to my vision of only doing cosmetic dentistry.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a cosmetic dentist. My practice is in downtown Austin and we exclusively do smile makeover and cosmetic dentistry procedures. The most popular procedure we do is porcelain veneers. We’ve grown our business through social media and half of our clients fly in to Austin to come get treatment from us. We’re huge on TikTok with over 2 Million followers and am known as the social media cosmetic dentist. I’m the business owner. We have a beautiful dental office overlooking downtown Austin. I’m proud of me and my team as we’ve created a business with a great reputation and are transparent about what we do. We take care of our patients like they were family.
What are your plans for the future?
Building our online presence. Making a splash on youtube with our new your tube show starting in early 2022 showing the behind the scenes of what we do. Continuing to Make our patient experience first-class and keeping pushing our results and outcomes for our smile makeovers to be world-class.
Doing more video. Being on camera more.
Start giving back by teaching younger dentists through virtual courses in cosmetic dentistry.
