Inspiring Conversations with Thu Trinh of Rise Dental

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thu Trinh.

Hi Thu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Rise Dental started with a vision — to create a space where dentistry feels connected, intentional, and deeply human.

We’ve been in this profession for over 25 years combined and have so much gratitude for the experiences that shaped us. But over time, we realized there was something missing — a sense of alignment between how we practiced and what we believed health could truly be. We wanted a space that felt more whole. More personal. One where the connection between the mouth, body, and mind wasn’t overlooked — but embraced.

Rise is that space. It’s a reflection of our values — simplicity, trust, education, and long-term wellness. It’s where technology supports care, not replaces it. It’s where patients feel seen, and where growth happens — not just in health, but in confidence, clarity, and community.

Our passion is helping people invest in themselves with intention. We don’t believe in quick fixes. We believe in small steps that lead to lasting change. Rise is about progress — for our patients, our team, and for us as a family.

We didn’t just want to build a dental office. We wanted to create a place where people feel safe to rise.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not quite. Construction delays set us back about three months, and we had to stay deeply involved throughout the process. We worked with a highly vetted Canadian architecture and design team who shared our vision for a sustainable, intentional space. But with them being remote, it meant many late evenings for our family — making decisions, managing delays from international orders, and staying hands-on to ensure every detail reflected what we imagined.

Midway through the year, my husband left the job he had been at for nearly a decade. There were limitations around the type of care he was allowed to provide — mostly basic — and while that transition wasn’t easy, it brought the clarity we needed. We realized it was time to create something of our own, where we could care for people the way we truly believe in.

Rise was born from two dentists who love their profession but wanted more — more intention, more connection, more freedom to practice with heart. It hasn’t been easy stepping into ownership after years of working under someone else’s vision. But every obstacle, every long night, and every challenge along the way helped shape Rise into what it is now: a space built with purpose, grounded in values, and created for the kind of care that lasts.

As you know, we’re big fans of Rise Dental. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Rise Dental is a different kind of dental office — designed from the ground up to feel calm, thoughtful, and grounded in real care. We specialize in comprehensive general dentistry, but we take a whole-body approach. That means we look beyond the teeth and consider how your oral health affects things like sleep, energy, inflammation, and longevity.

We offer services like low-dose digital imaging, fluoride-free and biocompatible alternatives, ozone therapy, sleep and airway screenings, and biomimetic materials that aim to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible. We also value education — we walk patients through their options so they can make confident, informed decisions about their care.

What makes Rise different is the experience. It’s slower — on purpose. You’re not just rushed through an appointment. Every detail, from the layout of the space to the way we communicate, is designed to feel clear, calm, and personal. We hear over and over from patients that they’ve never felt so listened to — and for us, that’s the highest compliment.

Brand-wise, we’re proud that Rise doesn’t just look different — it functions differently. We’re not here to push procedures. We’re here to build long-term relationships and help people feel good about investing in their health.

At the heart of it, Rise is about offering care that aligns with the kind of life you’re trying to live — healthier, more balanced, and built to last.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Start before you feel ready. You’ll never feel 100% prepared — but clarity comes from doing, not just planning.

There’s a lot of noise out there about how things should look or how fast you should grow. My advice is: stay grounded in your own “why.” Know what you’re building and who you’re building it for. You can always learn the technical stuff, but protecting your vision — that’s the part that takes the most strength.

Also, expect the process to shape you just as much as you shape the business. It will stretch you in ways you didn’t anticipate — emotionally, financially, mentally. But every hard moment adds depth to what you’re creating.

And finally — ask for help. Delegate. Don’t try to do it all alone. You don’t get extra points for burnout. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, and keep taking the next step. Even small progress counts.
