Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Dunsmore.
Hi Tiffany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Prior to owning Austin Scavenger Hunt I was the Development Director for the Florida Keys SPCA for 10 years in Key West, FL. This role allowed me to build relationships, learn how to host large scale events and work with many different types of supporters. Through this position I met Casey Arnold, owner of Southernmost Scavenger Hunts, and my now business partner. I had worked with Casey on several professional events and when I decided to change my career direction, we made the decision to expand Southernmost Scavenger Hunt to Austin together. Austin is consistently growing, attracting new businesses and a place where our company could thrive. I moved permanently to Austin in November 2024 and started to learn the area, the culture and what locals would genuinely want to see on a scavenger hunt experience. In 2025 we officially began doing business, creating lasting relationships and embracing the Austin lifestyle.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth, but it has been welcoming. Moving from a 2×4 mile island where word of mouth is enough to get you hired to one of the largest cities in Texas and the country takes a lot more effort to be noticed and given a chance. To make each dollar of our investment stretch, I have spent the first year meeting people and potential clients organically. We are members of the Chamber of Austin and the ILEA Austin Chapter, but getting involved doesn’t stop there. It takes constant perseverance to attend networking meetings, social groups, after-hours events, educational seminars and so on to meet the people that will decide to use our company for their conferences, events, employee outings or just for fun social events. However, everyone I have met has been more than friendly and accepting. I have found that helping others when and where I can goes a long way. It’s about supporting your fellow entrepreneurs and connections as well as receiving support.

Austin Scavenger Hunt focuses on corporate team building, collaboration and boosting morale for employees both local to Austin and visiting. We host scavenger hunts in downtown Austin to showcase the amazing history, businesses and art that make Austin special. We customize each experience to what the client would like to get out of our events while making team building fun. What sets us apart is our scavenger hunts are almost completely tech free. We use good old-fashion paper, pen and critical thinking skills to encourage communication. Our most popular experience is our Photo Hunt Challenge where in addition to finding the answers to clues, we also have you partake in hilarious challenges and your group has to earn the most points through a photo contest against the other groups. I am most proud that we offer a philanthropic element for any company that hires us by adding in a non-profit give back where the company can choose a charity and how much they want to donate. Then we facilitate working directly with that non-profit, the items they need most and incorporate those into the scavenger hunt. This can be school supplies for underprivileged children, pet needs for animal welfare organizations or any charity the company values to give to. Readers should know that our experiences can be for large or small conferences, staff outings, holiday parties, as well as family reunions, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays or just a fun way to experience downtown Austin. Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My happiness comes from my husband, my cat, my friends, random dog smooches and anything that can make me laugh. Life can be so serious and appreciating the small moments that make me smile, the big ones that make me laugh so hard I cry and everything in between are what genuinely make me happy.
