Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Fritzius.
Hi Alison, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was in the sixth grade, I remember having the thought, “massage therapy.” I grew up in small town Mississippi in the 80s where there really weren’t any massage therapy schools, let alone massage therapy businesses in the area. I knew nothing about massage, nor did I know any therapists. I wasn’t sure where that “thought” came from, but it would pop up periodically throughout my younger life.
In 2000, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a minor in Photography but decided that wasn’t what I wanted to do professionally, so I worked for a couple years in an unrelated field and decided to finally listen to that voice in the back of my head that kept saying “massage therapy.”
A friend and I moved to Austin, Texas where I found a school I liked. In 2003, I enrolled in classes at the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School and Clinic (TLC), and as soon as school began, that voice in my head changed to “energy work.” Again, I knew nothing about energy or energy work, but I knew I needed to find out. I later came to realize that these “thoughts” over the years weren’t my thoughts. It was one of my spirit guides helping me along my path.
Post graduation from TLC, I worked for a chiropractic office in the area for three years. I gained so much experience working in a therapeutic environment. It let me see people coming in with such acute pain and be able to watch their progress improve over time. It was a wonderful foundation for a career in bodywork.
In 2007, I applied for a job at one of the top destination spas in the country Lake Austin Spa Resort. For over 17 years, I’ve honed my craft there and been able to connect with more people. Along the way, I discovered that I am also an empath, energy healer, intuitive, and occasional medium.
I’ve been a part of the Round Rock community now for over five years, and in 2024, I started my own practice Healing Roots Massage and Energy Work. I am deeply passionate about the work I do and the healing journey I have the privilege of sharing with others. Outside of the spa and my private practice, you’ll usually find me enjoying cooking, gardening, photography, or wrangling my menagerie of feathered and furry animals.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are ups and downs with any profession, however, I think what was (and still is at times) most challenging for me was figuring out my abilities as a sensitive, all the different energetic patterns and ways that I receive messages from spirit (generally speaking as well as when I’m working on someone).
When I first started picking up on extrasensory information, there was a lot of doubt and lack of confidence because it was all new. I second-guessed myself all the time. Also, working at the spa, I couldn’t always ask questions of the people whom I was working on unless it was an energetic session and most weren’t.
One example is when I worked on the wife of the spa’s then General Manager. At the time, I had not yet met the GM Tracy, let alone her wife Lydia. During the session, I began working on Lydia’s right shoulder and rotator cuff. Out of nowhere, I got nauseous and saw a brown cloud in front of me, and in my mind, I was like, “What the heck was that?!” I moved down her arm a bit, and both sensations went away. As I moved back toward her armpit, the brown cloud and nausea came back. I did that multiple times to make sure it wasn’t me. Since this was the first time anything like this had happened, I didn’t know what to do. I was out of my element! I felt like I needed to bring it up, but something told me not to. I continued with the session, not having said anything on the matter, but there was a weight to the situation that I felt I couldn’t let go.
The next day, I nervously went to Tracy and explained what happened. I told her I didn’t know specifically what it was, but I felt like I couldn’t ignore it. She said, “That’s interesting, because Lydia was supposed to get a mammogram in February (this happened in November), but she never went. She and I will talk about it this evening.”
That conversation was on a Friday. I found out within the next two weeks of that session that Lydia had stage 2 breast cancer. When Tracy told me the diagnosis, she said, “If you’d mentioned anything about it to Lydia that night, she might not have gone to the doctor.”
This is only one example of thousands of different scenarios that I have experienced and tried to decode.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a licensed massage therapist, energy healer, and empath, and I offer a holistic approach to health and well-being. I help facilitate healing and promote balance, creating a deeply relaxing and transformative experience. Whether someone is seeking relief from stress or simply want to feel more centered and grounded, I’m here to help!
My bodywork sessions integrate Swedish, sports, deep massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release depending on what the body is telling me.
With energetic sessions, I connect with the energy of the person I’m working with and am assisted by my spirit guides and theirs to promote their greatest and highest good. I receive messages in various ways, such as clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance to name a few. Spirit sometimes comes through as well.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is connecting with people whether personally or professionally. From my experiences and training, knowing that I can potentially help someone mentally, emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually is very rewarding. There are times where I might not have the solution to their problem, but maybe I can at least send them in the right direction of someone else who can help. Life is all about connections and community.
