Life & Work with Averi Segrest of Hutto, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Averi Segrest

Averi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2007, just five months after welcoming my daughter into the world, I took a leap of faith and became a vendor at Round Rock Market Days. To say I started with little knowledge or experience would be an understatement— I did everything “wrong” in the beginning! But sometimes, it’s in our missteps that we find the greatest opportunities to learn and grow.

Throughout this journey, I was fortunate to have the support of Sherri Arrington, the owner of Mainstreet Productions. Sherri played a pivotal role in my evolution from an inexperienced vendor to a successful one. I learned the ins and outs of the craft, not just from my own trials and errors but also under Sherri’s guidance. It wasn’t long before I was helping her as a show organizer, diving into social media strategies, and connecting with vendors to create engaging experiences at events.

With Sherri’s mentorship, we embarked on a project together to launch Hutto Market Days. The experience was incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to further channel my passions for community and entrepreneurship. Fast forward to this year, and a significant transition was on the horizon. Sherri made the decision to pass the torch of Hutto Market Days onto me and my new business partner, Marquita.

This marked the beginning of Urban Bloom Market, a venture rooted in community togetherness, creativity, and local entrepreneurship. We’re excited to continue the legacy of Hutto Market Days while infusing our vision and passion into everything we do. Our story is one of growth, collaboration, and a commitment to creating vibrant spaces where local vendors can thrive and build connections. Here’s to new beginnings and the beautiful journey ahead!.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any new business venture, there are bound to be trials and tribulations along the way. However, I genuinely feel that the transition has been successful so far. This success will allow us to elevate Hutto Market Days to the next level. We’re excited to implement fresh ideas and enhance the experience for both vendors and attendees, ensuring that it continues to be a vibrant and welcoming space for our community. Here’s to growth and what the future holds!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I like to stay busy and have always had my hands in multiple things. My day job is working at the Hutto Family YMCA as a multi-departmental program coordinator. In this position, I teach gymnastics to kiddos from 18 months up to 13 years old. Nothing beats watching a child work hard to master a skill and finally nail it for the first time! I also help run the child watch department and summer camps, which allows me to create fun and engaging curriculum for the kids in our care.

When I’m not working at the YMCA, I’m collaborating with Marquita, my business partner at Urban Bloom Markets, to brainstorm ways to make Hutto Market Days bigger and better each time. On top of all this, I juggle my two kids who participate in competitive cheer. It’s safe to say I’m always busy!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
It truly does take a tribe to run a successful business, and Urban Bloom Markets would have never come to fruition if it weren’t for several amazing individuals. First, Sherri Arrington has been my mentor from the beginning. She has taught me so much about running markets, from managing vendors to connecting with customers, and has shared best practices that have made our efforts successful.

My business partner, Marquita, is simply incredible. We complement each other perfectly—like yin and yang. We really work well together, and she has a knack for bringing me back down to earth when stress runs high.

And I couldn’t have accomplished any of this without my husband, Stephen Segrest. He is my muscle at the market and my calming voice in the chaos. Whenever it comes to market days, he always asks, “How can I help?” This support has been invaluable.
