Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Wagner.
Hi Bethany, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Creative thinking has always impacted my outlook on life. From problem solving in any situation to embracing thrill seeking adventures, filling in the blanks to achieve meaningful goals is what energizes me most! I love experimenting with color, trends and decor. My home has served as a testing ground for new ideas and in some cases, what not to do. Our living room was painted 3 times in the first 3 years of living in Texas and area rugs became a frequent rotation – neither being cheap which led to my husband’s encouragement that I turn this passion into a business for others! The idea remained just that -an idea- until one day a local realtor came to purchase whiskey barrel light posts we had listed on marketplace. We initially built these for our backyard to hang patio lights, before deciding to utilize surrounding trees for added height. As she walked through our home, she complimented the decor selection in our living room. One thing led to another and she asked if we would build additonal barrels for her airbnb properties. Sure, why not?! They were fun enough to make. Torching posts, mixing concrete and planting flower to cascade the rim was the cherry on top. Upon completion, she asked if I would stage these short term rentals for future guests. Absolutely! Receiving the invitation to cultivate and promote one’s personal endeavor felt like the highest compliment! At this point, Shop & Stage Unlimited was born, July 2021. Upon sharing these transformations on social media, I was refferred to other local airbnb hosts seeking creative spaces and interior design integration. Today, I provide full renovation concepts for homeowners and business owners alike. Curating designs that others cherish in their own home and life for years to come has rooted my purpose as a business owner. I am excited to expand these opportunities and merge with new adventures ahead!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We launched into business with an idea but it was not very well mapped out. I say “we”, because my husband was instrumental in those beginning years, providing hands on support while maintaining his full time career. It was physically exhausting and very labor intensive, often requiring week nights and Saturdays, with our three children joining us to help complete projects when timelines were underestimated. These were long and challenging days that carried on the first few years of start up. As the business evolved, I transitioned into managing client communication and coordinating schedules with contractors. While we stepped back from much of the physical labor, guiding others through a detailed design process proved to be its own learning curve. Selecting partners who align with our value and work ethic remains essential. Genuinely loving what I do, keeps the highs and lows of entrepreneurship in check.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I provide intentional creative design solutions for both interior and exterior renovations. I collaborate with several trusted local professionals to install and or curate designs to perfection. Overseeing the implementation process brings each dream to full scale reality.
What distinguishes my work as an interior designer is my hands on level of involvement. I prioritize building strong relationships with skilled individuals rather than relying on large crews where oversight may be inconsistant. This approach strengthens accountability, precision and alignment throughout the project. To achieve goal and exceed expectations, I take initiative on site and provide continuous guidance to ensure every detail is thoughtfully incorporated.
I am truly grateful for the opportunities entrusted to me that have brought me to this point. Seeing my work displayed and recommended is the highest compliment. Creating with purpose for myself and others is incredibly liberating and brings my heart much joy! I’ve met some pretty remarkable people who share the same passion for thoughtful, well-crafted designs and this dedication is what makes Shop & Stage Unlimited truly exceptional.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always eager to showcase and highlight the talents of others through the blueprint vision and strategic direction of each renovation project. From woodworking and laser metal engraving, to flooring, painting, tiling, structural integration, and landscaping, it is a pleasure to collaborate with several local craftsmanship and artisans. Partnering with passionate, dedicated entrepreneurs fosters a thriving environment, where we have proven to collectively grow stronger and more knowledgeable from having conciously worked together.
