Today we’d like to introduce you to Chandler Christopher.
Hi Chandler, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The first reason that I started Happen Twice was to be able to engage in the music and arts community. I never had a clear image of what I wanted Happen Twice to be, and I still don’t. So I started developing happentwice.com and it has been slowly growing since its launch in April of 2021. I am also a student at St. Edwards University as a Global Studies major and I work at Retro Boat Rentals in downtown Austin.
Happen Twice, music and arts are my passion, so I’m stoked on where everything is going.
I’m stoked to announce that Happen Twice will be hosting two Happen Twice unofficial SXSW showcases in March this year! The first one will be at High Noon on Wednesday, March 16th and the lineup will feature The Velveteins, The Slaps, Hey Cowboy!, and more.
The second show will be from 1-6 on March 18th at Valhalla Tavern and the lineup on this one will feature Rococo Disco, Lainey Gonzales, Jaxon, and more!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a fairly smooth road in most regards, I suppose. There have been many sleepless nights where I’ve just been doing trial and error with making my website, as I had never done that before. Everything I do really is for the first time so I’m just learning as I go and tackling obstacles as they come.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Happen Twice is an Art Culture Brand and Indie Cassette Label. My favorite aspect of the business is the cassette side. I make all of the cassettes myself with very DIY methods and it takes a lot of time, but it is like making an art project that has an artist’s music on it. And everybody I’ve done a cassette release with thus far has been someone I am a fan of and have interviewed.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I don’t feel as though I’m some big success yet, so it’s tough to answer this question. But I think my persistence and hard work have been what has led me to where I am today. I am a full-time student, work a job, and run Happen Twice. I’m only 23 so I’ve had to make some sacrifices with the way I spend my time, but it doesn’t really feel that way. I feel much happier when I’m working hard.
