Life & Work with Eddie Robbins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie Robbins.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born in Media, PA. Grew up close to the Brandywine river off Route 1 (45 minutes outside of Philadelphia, PA) In a town called Chaddsford. Grew up in a barn converted into a house on 4 acres and fell in love with the landscape being a little kid.

Moved to Austin when I was 11. Before I moved to Texas, I’d visit Texas regularly (Laredo ATX San Antonio) my mother’s side of the family living there. I felt a connection to the land stronger in Texas than I’d ever anymore when we visited Texas before moving: First thing my dad and I did was restring the guitars. When we moved there and I started playing. Ran into some health scares at age 19 and 28 that created a sense of urgency in my music to keep going and not stop.

Went to college at Texas State and graduated 2013. Played bass in college and then when I graduated, I moved to south Austin and that’s when the playing accelerated (age 25-26)

At age 27, I moved out to WY (Moran- Flagg ranch 3 miles from Yellowstone)

Worked at the campgrounds for a summer to take a break from playing in cover bands and camp and live in

Nature. Watch the ice melt Spring thru summer. Wrote some music…

Shortly after I moved back, I had a health scare that got me working on music to where I am now.

Playing in Cream Cheese accident still

2015 – present – string cheese incident cover band

Eddie robbins band – 2021-present

Outlaws of Funk – 2021- present

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve had a fairly smooth ride aside from health scares in my adulthood.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist at heart but have worked a lot in heavy haul logistics and CAD drawings for trucking companies and shipping companies. I quit my job about a year ago to focus solely on music.

I’ve played in several bands throughout the years and now have a wide selection of musicians to choose from for my bands I play in. I just got back from playing a wedding in Cabo San Lucas and also coordinating a performance in another wedding this summer.

I’ve toured in Colorado and New Mexico a few times with cream cheese accident.

This past week I played nine shows in six days in three bands for unofficial SXSW performances which is why it’s taken me so long to get back to you.

I’m also planning a mini-tour with Eddie Robbins Band 4/20 week to Denver, CO this year as well as a Sunday residency In May in Austin with Outlaws of Funk.

In 2020, I recorded at laughing heart studios in Nashville, TN and recorded more songs summer of 2021: this album has my heart and soul. The Great American Put On touches on how I use landscape and nature to cope with life’s struggles outside your comfort zone. The 11 track album takes you on a journey through my life.

If I’m proud of anything, it’s probably my abilities in improv guitar and vocals.
