Today we’d like to introduce you to George Napier.
George, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Happy George’s Singing Telegrams about four and a half years ago. I have always liked to surprise people and have been a musician for most of my life. I found a way to combine the two and now I have the best job in the world! I do any occasion except breakups. My wife, Megan, and I get to celebrate milestones with telegram recipients and their loved ones; not to mention our audience almost every day of the year. Happiness and music are essential for a healthy life!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting out, I knew this singing telegram business would be difficult for people to chew. In our first year, 2017, we did 40 telegrams. In 2021, we did a total of 420 telegrams. Last month, we did 85. The key to this business has been persistence, reliability, and using social media to get the telegrams out there because they speak for themselves. The joy and laughter are undeniable.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I own and operate a singing telegram business called Happy George’s Singing Telegrams. I’m known for surprising people, both in person and virtually, with a special message and song from a loved one on their special day. I do any occasion except breakups! I am most proud of bringing people together and spreading joy and happiness to others. I genuinely love what I do and I don’t pretend to be someone else when I’m delivering my telegrams. I may be in an Elvis Suit or a Blue Jean Bikini but I’m always Happy George; that’s what sets my business apart from the others.
