Life & Work with Jack Nunnery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Nunnery.

Hi Jack, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
A few years ago, I was walking on a date and came across a beautifully decorated Valentine’s Day picnic setup. I was surprised when I found out that the Valentine’s Day picnic was for me. I enjoyed every minute of it! The whole experience made me feel thought of and special and I love how Darling Picnics allows me to make others feel the same.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road, but it hasn’t been that bumpy either. My biggest challenge was finding out the proper permits and licenses needed. And also getting the website up and the whole back end of the business good to go and organized. Aside from all that, it’s been easy and fun since my main job is to show up and make things look pretty, which I love doing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve always been a creative person who likes to do my own thing. I’ve been a blogger for the past few years. I blog mainly about my healing journey from sexual abuse. l also talk about it on Tiktok and have connected with some really wonderful survivors over there.

I’ve also had the fun opportunity to write children’s books. I love the whole process of writing and publishing children’s books and hope I get to do more soon

At the beginning of next year, I will be launching SpeakUP Voices, a brand that creates inspirational products that give back to sexual abuse. SpeakUP Voices is something I’ve been working on for the last two years. The logo is a teal broken circle that stands for breaking the cycle of silence that often surrounds sexual abuse.

The message of the brand is everything to me and I’m so excited to see it all finally coming together.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I haven’t had any instances that have stemmed from either good or bad luck, yet.
