Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn H Garcia.
Hi Jocelyn H, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I come from a small town in South Texas. Mostly everyone calls me Joy, and it’s truly a nickname that defines me in one word. Although it wasn’t until this past year where I was able to embrace it completely. I realized I have a special gift and I wanted to use it with more intention. My purpose is not just to spread my joy onto others, but to inspire, impact, and add value to your life. My roots go back to being a ballerina. I danced for 15+ years and did all of the classics such as ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, etc. I know sacrifice, discipline, persistence, elegance, patience, and determination. Shortly before starting college, I became intrigued about photography and film. I had always enjoyed modeling for my dance photoshoots but I always wondered how it felt to be on the other side. When you ask God something, he listens, and I began to work at Anette | Miguel Photography & Videography studio. We mainly specialize in weddings, capturing lovely couples and their story. Six years later, and we’re such a strong team. Around the same time after I began there, I walked into Max Muscle, a sports nutrition shop & quickly became fascinated by all the supplements there. Knowing that my dancing days would soon be over, I started venturing into the world of bodybuilding now looking back as I am writing this, that’s where my purpose began to unfold. Now you are probably asking yourself what my career is, and no it’s not what you think, but it will all make sense soon. Fast forward to today, I have become so passionate about being involved in people’s fitness journey. It makes me incredibly happy to not only educate people about supplements but also help them achieve their goals through everything I have learned from strength training. During the pandemic, I invested a lot of my time in personal development and mentorship. One day I read this verse; “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. – 1 Peter 4:10″. After reading that, my vision got clearer and my purpose became bigger. In this past year, I have become a brand ambassador for several different companies, which has allowed me to further extend my passion for helping others. Two of these companies have a really special place in my heart, Alchemy Labs Nutrition (a supplement company) and GymAdiktz (a fitness apparel company). Working alongside these two specific brands has taken a huge role in my personal and career growth. I have earned higher responsibilities with these two companies and it makes me so excited because this is where the puzzle pieces seem to be making sense.
Currently, I am finishing up my Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering and have found a way to bring together my passion, purpose, and gift into one. I want to pursue my degree in the fitness industry. I have several ideas and projects in mind that I want to turn into a reality and hopefully, I can impact more people by sharing what I love. With that being said, stay tuned for what these next few years will bring!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing in nature blooms all year, therefore you have to realize that struggles are actually some of the best parts of your journey. They make everything worthwhile so that when you look back even after the times you felt like quitting, you surprise yourself by seeing how tough you really are. As important as they oddly are, I don’t ever talk about my struggles. All I do is remind myself that better days are coming, that our best days are always ahead of us, and that there is nothing I won’t be able to withstand with a firm positive mentality. I am aware that in order to get to where I want to be I will have to go through different seasons. Seasons of separation, seasons of being uncomfortable, seasons of pain, doubt, and mixed emotions, etc. I welcome every challenge that I have to encounter with open arms. As I mentioned previously, I am a very joyful person regardless if things are going smoothly or not in my life. There are countless things to be grateful for and thankful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My joy is what sets me apart from everyone, my energy and positivity is something I take so much pride in. I am known for that very well but also for being involved in so many things. I like to keep myself “booked and busy”, even if I feel overwhelmed at times from all that I do. From my dance background to being a photographer, to a sports nutrition and supplements retailer, to full-time engineering student, to managing a fitness apparel company and the other companies I am an ambassador for, I really have put myself out there to learn and to grow. I have learned over the years that it’s not only about adding value to the lives of others but to become a person of value. When you invest enough time into things that are good for the mind, body, and soul, you will be rewarded for it all in due time.
How do you define success?
“Success is helping people and believing in them. Success is love and the bonds we form with others. Success is the noblest art of making others happy.” Success to me comes in various different forms, but ultimately action is the foundation key to all success.
