Hi Kayla, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started making wax melts in September of 2021 when I was a 3rd grade teacher. I was using wax melts myself in my home and supported other small businesses that sold wax melts. During my teaching career, I was super burnt out and stressed 24/7 so I needed a creative outlet on the side, and Midding Studios was born! With the support of my husband and family, I started creating my own wax melts using soy wax and fragrance oils. It took a lot of patience and learning to create all the different scented and themed wax melts that I have available today. I started my journey on Instagram and Etsy, and grew from there. I now have my own website and I sell wax melts wholesale, along with having a booth in a storefront and attending local markets. Midding Studios has come a long way and has grown so much over the last 3 years.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road leading to where I am at now. I have learned a lot along the way about creating wax melts since there are so many factors to that specific process and of course the challenges that come along with owning a small business!

I own Midding Studios and I create hand poured, small batch soy wax melts in a variety of scents and themes, so there is something for everyone! I am known for having colorful vibrant wax melts and unique scents. I also donate the sales of our wax melt, Sprinkle’s Garden, to a different animal shelter or organization at the end of every month. I am most proud of the creative ideas I have been able to brainstorm and translate into a physical item that others can enjoy. I am also so proud of the growth that my small business has experience in a short time.
