Today we’d like to introduce you to Melanie Capello.
Hi Melanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Lockhart, TX. Lockhart is a small town 30 miles south of Austin so I have always been close to the city. Now that I’m an Austin realtor, I’m even closer to Austin than before. My family has always been very close but especially the past six years ever since my parents took over Chisholm Trail BBQ in Lockhart. If you have ever been to Lockhart you know it’s the BBQ capital of Texas or very known for its 4 BBQ restaurants. Imagine living in a small town with 3 BIG name competitors and still thriving in the BBQ industry. It’s similar to real estate if you really think about it. If you want to find a real estate agent nowadays, just throw a rock out a window and you might hit one. Realtors are different, we follow a code of ethics and have access to more & reliable sources. I am only 20 so some might think I’m too young or too inexperienced but I’m dedicated and willing to learn more everyday.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been smooth. No major struggles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Realtor with JBGoodwin in Westlake and I am a part of the Austin Board Of Realtors. As a realtor, I can help someone buy, sell, or invest in real estate. This job forces you to constantly make relationships which work to my advantage because a part of why I chose real estate was to help people.
I am most proud of myself for finding a career I love at such a young age.
I believe what sets me apart from other realtors is my ambition to constantly gain knowledge and learn, as well as my mindset. I’m not looking to make money and sell, I’m looking to create relationships and help as many people as I can within my career.
What’s next?
I will be growing my clientele everyday but as for the future, I plan on getting many designations which are like “extra credit” that specialize a realtor in specific areas of the market. I also plan on becoming a professional home stager. I have always been into home decor so that will come easy to me. Also, it allows home buyers to imagine themselves actually living in the home which makes the home buying process easier. Non-real estate-related, I would love to open my own cheer gym.
