Life & Work with NeNe of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to NeNe

Hi NeNe, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, I first got into music when I was about 10 years old. I listened to a lot of Missy Elliot, LL Cool J, and 50 Cent Lol. I knew that I could do exactly what they were doing at that age and I was good too. I wrote my first song in the 4th grade and I haven’t looked back since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been easy at all. I’ve given up on this dream plenty of times because I felt like I didn’t have the support others had. I would start and stop and jump back into it like I never left. Now at my big age I feel like I stopped myself this whole time always being worried about what others may think or not like. I still worry myself with these same “problems”, but I don’t think I’ll stop again.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a rapper from Greenville, Texas. I’m most proud of the feedback that I’ve been getting because it does motivate me to keep releasing new music and pushes me to see who else my music can reach. I would like to think what sets me apart from others is that I write my own songs, and that’s not to be shady either. I just think a lot of rappers, male or female, don’t write for themselves all the time.

What does success mean to you?
I think that you define your own success. If the question was to be worried “what does success look like to me” then I would say people hearing my music in every state and knowing they really mess with it. It’s awesome to have people here in Texas like me, but I can’t wait to reach the people in Washington state, and New York. Heck even people in other countries would make me feel like I’ve made it. That would make me feel like I’m successful in what I do.
