Life & Work with Nunie Rubio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nunie Rubio.

Hi Nunie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am currently the Lead Singer for Multi-Grammy Award winning The Texas Tornados and Lifetime Grammy Award-Winning Flaco Jimenez. I have been with Flaco for almost 25 years.

I share a Grammy with him on my first album Said and Done which won best album in 1998.

I have also toured all over the world and have appeared in movies and movie soundtracks.

Picking up the Pieces was one such movie that starred Sharon Stone, Woody Allen, and many other Hollywood Stars.

I recently added to my entrepreneurial portfolio being a co-owner of a Financial Company which is growing at a record pace.

I am excited to share more in detail of how arrived to where I am today and talk more about my past and future endeavors.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. There are many struggles that I have endured along the way.

Examples are, being away from family and friends due to touring all over the world and having contractual events that have to happen.

The commitment of being an artist is always taking you away from what one might see as a normal life, etc.

Now being a business owner, there are even more responsibilities in running a successful Firm.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lead singer for The Texas Tornados and Flaco Jimenez. I’m most proud of continuing The Tex-Mex sound with the Original Musicians who created and elevated this genre to where it is today.

I plan to continue creating along with these musicians until they can’t continue anymore.

I feel that that is what I owe them. They elevated me to a World Wide Artist and gave me that chance a long time ago. It’s only fair for me to continue sharing, telling, and singing about our story. That is what sets me apart.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love to create if it’s in a recording studio or putting together a video to put on my YouTube Channel. I love to tell stories through music and video.

I also love being with family, I now am able to spend a lot more time with them.
